I'm using standard Zimo sound decoders (MX644D rated at 1.2A) for my 0 gauge locos including the Dapol 08. Do review the TTS spec if you can get it. The 08 page only has the list of functions. E.g. https://www.Hornby.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/R3284TTS-Flying-Scotsman-Sound-Manual.pdf The motor limit is 500mA continuous with a peak of 1A momentary or steady load of 800mA including shared function outputs of 100mA apiece, so I think your 08 would be too much of a load for it.
