As you can also see in the photo, the first of the locos are out of storage, namely the familiar faces of Mastodon and Geoffrey Lake. First off is finally finishing the Garratt. The tender is mostly done, made from bits of Triang B12 tender and some plasticard. RedGemAlchemist Posted November 21, 2019 Author Share Posted November 21, 2019 11 months and multiple contributions by you guys later, Tortoise the Berkham Works Garratt is finally coming together. The cab is that of the former No.12 combined with a spare Airfix Pug one I had knocking around, the tender is aforementioned, the front tank is plasticard with the fittings from the same butchered tender attached to it, boiler frame comes from a broken Airfix Small Prairie shell I had knocking around with some gubbins from a tanker kit attached to the underside to bulk it out a bit and some thin brass rods for strength. The tender also has a crate and a shovel on it courtesy of one of my Warhammer 40k kits. Still needs stuff like handrails, safety valves, a smokebox door and some other odds and ends. Not sure what colour the works loco livery should be, as I want it to look noticeably different but still be recognisable as a KLR locomotive. Thoughts, anyone? Also this is my 2000th overall RMWeb post. Hmm. To celebrate then, let me reveal that Bulldog is now fully lined. It only took me what, nearly two years? Part of me is wondering though if I can think of a more appropriate name than Tortoise. One more in keeping with the rest of the KLR fleet. The fact that you're even paying attention to my stuff is kind of awesome. Thank you The KLR's locomotives are mostly named after East Anglian folklore and history, so not really helpful. If you slightly stretch the wire before forming the handrails you'll find it a lot easier to get them straight.
