70E
A friend of mine has bought his son a Hornby Tornado (not sure which version) but the decoder socket is in the boiler. Thinking the new separate decoder and speaker would fit only to find that it doesn't . Before I offer to have a go has anyone retro fitted a TTS decoder in a Hornby Tornado boiler? Does the decoder fit and what size speaker did you use (I assume sugar cube)? Thanks
RAF96
I fitted a mocro-cube onto the chassis step just ahead of the decoder socket in a DCC Ready Merchant Navy which has a very similar chassis to Tornado. I had to trim the boiler weight to get the TTS decoder in under the funnel and I took a wee bit of the body lower inner edges to clear the speaker. Others have reported stuffing the (cube) speaker under the funnel and parking the decoder over the socket. Rob
Stormbringer
I put both speaker (sugarcube) and decoder in the smokebox on my railroad Tornado. Works nicely too. Pete
