RMweb Gold Accurascale Fran Posted June 20, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 20, 2019 Hi everyone, Here is another look at our liners with some containers on board to give you a flavour of what the forthcoming flats will look like. Enjoy! Fran 6

RMweb Gold Accurascale Fran Posted July 12, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2019 Hi everyone, First sample of the fertiliser pallet wagon arrived yesterday for assessment. Some amendments to be made but overall looking quite tasty! Prices and delivery TBC, but expect the order book to open soon. There will be four packs of two wagons, each with a different running number as we like to do it! Cheers! Fran

A damn fine cup of coffee fert wagon... The CIE really did have some interesting ideas about freight wagons, as seen here: A lot based on the standard 42' platform... Ferts feature in this splendid video, including under construction at 5:39. I wonder what the sundries van looked like. A fert with a roof? There's a tantalising glimpse of the sole example built at 3:00 in. Edited July 12, 2019 by Dr Gerbil-Fritters
RMweb Gold Accurascale Fran Posted July 12, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2019 It's a pity the mesh doors on the ferts was not successful, they were really cool. The prototype was also on ridemaster bogies. We have a great picture of it in Inchicore on file (alas not the copyright to publish it!) and it looked great! The sundries van was much longer than the 42 flat and more akin to a continental ferry van. Again, have seen official CIE photographs. Such a pity it was not successful and rail freight here is a shadow of what it once was, but hopefully we will see more return to the rails in the future! Fitzer
Would love the ridemaster, round buffer version too and flats. Heard disturbing rumors on FB recently of Northwall yard becoming a Tesco and apartment block.

Yes the 1970s was an interesting time for Irish railfans with new specialist wagons replacing the humble H vans and corrugated opens. The prototype Sundries Van appears to have been on a 62' underframe similar to 24224-24240 series rail trucks introduced around the same time. The van had 2 section sliding doors that operated on a similar principal to the NZR family of plug door pallet wagons of 2004 http://nzrailwaysrollingstocklists.weebly.com/zg---plug-door-of-2004.html Sundries traffic was eventually transported using caged trolleys in 10' containers on standard bogie and 2w flat wagons with door to door delivery by Bedford TK with tail lift, this system seems to have worked reasonably well but remained unprofitable. NIRCLASS80
The first part of the Project 42’ products have arrived. The Liners. Lovely wagons. Some of the containers in this video are separate C Rail products.

C / MV Class is the biggest gap in the Irish Loco market and must be a favourite to appear. A NIR Class 80 would likely leave me financially broke, divorced and homeless but bring it on!

Have to be honest and say biggest diesel gap - many would love a jeep, mogul and a mass of the great but small fleets of the Irish steam locos- I know kits and bashing always fun but not everybody has the skills of some of our friends on here. Just about to revisit my 450 based on Bratchell bits and pieces - 150/2 and some 317 sections. - Success here will help the good lads get on with the rtr version. Guinness trains, featuring keg cages and loads to replicate another iconic Irish freight flow, forms IRM project 6 and they are due in Q3 My dad worked a Leyland Bus and one of his friends had family in Ireland and gave my dad a copy of some pictures he took on one of his visits. Plus a couple extra from the selection.
