Surprised that it kept the extra light from its Lickey banking days....

And it looks like the remote operated uncoupler air cylinder is still there.

Cheers,

Mick

Ugly loco granted, but ugly woman ? Surely its named after the

company started by Richard Henry Biffa.

So as not to be seen to offend anybody specifically, I give in my defence;

Ok, spelt differently but sounds the same.

Round these parts of the world, large wheeled contraptions with 'Biffa' written in large words on the side are only seen on a Wednesday - emptying the bins!!

And here's me thinking it was named after Biffa Bacon from the Viz.

DO NOT do a Google search for Biffa while at work.

I rather like them. Can't quite explain why, and I didn't think much of them when they were new, but they've somehow acquired a bit of character.

Yes indeed, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

They just look unfinished and out of proportion, with a temporary tin box dropped on top to me, short term like the pre-fab houses!

Whilst I detest them by association with the management decisions that bought them to replace favoured domestic built traction products (privatisation mainly but also understand the fiscal reasons for doing so) plus the ensuing uniformity (monotony) it has bought to freight operations, the last bastion of a loco hauled oasis in a desert of a multiple unit centred railway. Hence the apparent "excitement" (froth) a new paint job brings. However, if the sun is over my shoulder...they do have a 9f esque functional beauty to them...I s'pose.

No match for a heavyweight Tractor, 56 or 60 though, ever. C6T.

Worked on them for 20 years now, and they have helped the freight companies with running costs and budgeting and when they were still making them it was great to be able to bid for a freight flow and have confidence you could order an additional batch of locos without too much hassle and thus grow your business. Having said all that i don't like the locos not then and as they have aged not now, but i do appreciate the whole electro motive super series creep control technology and the spare parts service that exists for the class
