Al.

Indeed, this is good news. Hopefully the goods on board have not suffered any damage following their extended stay in the containers.

Yes for bottom cleaning and inspection of bow /hull and any other damage.

surely that would have been done whilst impounded and before it was allowed to re-enter the canal. It’s anchored 20 miles out in the Med so surely not the best place to inspect it?

I can't imagine that the SCA/ Egyptian authorities would have allowed that sort of activity to happen while still negotiating the release?

I wonder if there will be further delays with the extreme weather conditions they are experiencing there.

Looks like there are already delays. There have been safety restrictions placed on the vessel, for it's voyage to Europe, and due to low pressure weather in the eastern med, it has been sheltering for the last 2 days  east of Sicily, off Syracusa.

Yes i saw that on Vesselfinder and wondered why.

I had hoped a more knowledgeable respondent would explain,

But as no one has done so, there is a detailed, knowledgeable, response on the GoG forum. Briefly such a large ship has few berths available; it missed the original one so is now waiting time for the new one to be available - there is a date IIRC of 25 July in Rotterdam. The Med is preferable place to queue than the Bay of Brisbane, or the very crowded Channel where it would be a problem for other shipping in what may be the busiest sealane in the world. It could get to Rotterdam in less than a week, but nowhere to go. Perhaps the severe European weather has caught them out?

At least two shipping websites have reported that Evergreen Line have advised that restrictions were placed on the vessel after it's inspection off Port Said to comply with the seaworthiness certificate issued after that inspection. The vessel has to sail at a lower speed and Hamburg had to be dropped as a port of call. I suspect that the storm that went through the eastern Med at the weekend, led to the vessel sheltering, linked to it's seaworthiness restriction.

According to Tower its July for the 121 and the Dapol web site has the 121 in production now for the last couple of weeks.

So I predict August, though given the hype all around us, possibly not this year LOL.

How exciting.

Ever Given is passing Ibiza now. Apparently it failed its seaworthiness inspection and has been limited to 10 knots. It will sail to Rotterdam and be fully unloaded.

The consequences of this are: -

1 - At that speed it will not make Rotterdam on 25th July at 18:00 as predicted. It has c 2000 miles to do at 10 mph, that's 200 hours or 9 days, so July 30-31.
2 - Instead of the ship unloading them coming to the UK, it will be unloaded, stored and then reloaded onto another ship to queue to enter the UK.

So, will they arrive in August at all?

Rather than repeat exactly the same discussion, shall those that want to discuss shipping use the Ever Given thread and leave this one until there is anything concrete about the bubble cars?

Will they examine the contents of all the containers before reloading as some must be damaged surely?
