mike knowles
From the sublime of the likes of Pulborough, Clutton etc there will also be my (work in progress) layout Boston Frodsham. This is my first attempt at a P4 layout and my first time exhibiting at a society show so please go easy on me. Hope this doesn't deter too many people from attending what should be a great show which I'm really looking forward to!

mike knowles
Your layout looks fantastic - do you have a thread as it'll be great to follow progress Many thanks. Yes there is a thread lurking on here somewhere but it hasn't been updated for ages (years). When I get this weekend out of the way I'll try to post some updates. Are you coming to the show? If so say hello!
Flymo748
Last night the hall was filling up nicely... There are some lovely layouts being displayed. I'm not going to say which is my personal favourite so far! Hope to see many RMWebbers here in Wakefield during the day... RMweb Premium t-b-g Posted April 14, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2018 What a lovely day out that was. So much so that a couple of us have decided to go again tomorrow. Can't praise a show much more than that.
RMweb Premium ullypug Posted April 14, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2018 Very enjoyable day today. Worth going if you're undecided.
Blue Max
Had a really good day at S4N today, excellent layouts, good friends to catch up with and well balanced mix of trade stands, always more things on the shopping list than the money stretches to. Found a set of etches for a GCR/LNER D9 so worth going just for those. Got home and realised I had not seen Dart Castings stand, they were listed in the programme, did they not attend or was I walking round with my eyes closed at that point?
RMweb Gold 46444 Posted April 14, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 14, 2018 Really good day. Well organised and some brilliant layouts. Great selection of specialist traders & societies to boot. Well worth a visit. Thanks to all. Cheers, Mark
Tom F
Scale Four North is always a high point of the modelling year for me, and today was no exception. Some superb layouts! Clutton is always a joy to see, and it was nice to see something a little closer to home in the form of 'Kettlewell'. I was able to get all the bits I was after (and a little bit more.....). Great to chat to old friends and some new. It was nice to finally meet and speak to Jol in person. I couldn't find 'Dart Castings' and after the second time looking I realised they wasn't here. Not the end of the world, I'll place an order on Monday for what I'm after. I live a good 70 plus miles away so sadly wont be able to visit again tomorrow, but if I was closer I certainly wood. Came away feeling inspired with several new ideas for my new layout I'm planning 'Askrigg'. A proper modellers show..... nothing quite like it Edited April 14, 2018 by 9793

Iain Popplewell
Scalefour North never disappoints truly inspirational stuff all of it. A big thank you to the organisers/helpers, great job done once again. As for the excellent trade presence, surely no greater reason to spend the kids inheritance can exist on the planet! RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted April 15, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2018 Sounds a great show - can anyone post any pics? Always happy to see pics when unable to make it. Thanks in advance
Clive Mark
Excellent show and Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School (known as "QWEGS" in Wakefield) a very good venue. This has been the third year in a row for me and the three and half hour drive worth it. Well done to the organisers.
5050
All over for another year sadly. Being local it's one of the modelling highlights of the year. Two days of continuous pleasure. Many thanks to James and the team for another excellent show, must get a new layout started to get an invite for the future. Met so many old friends and acquiantances that for the first hour or more on Saturday I hardly moved around the hall, took me over an hour to get down to the bottom corner. I bought a s/h OO loco from a friend very cheaply - but by the time I had visited the Alan Gibson and High Level stands so I could convert it to P4 it had grown in value considerably! Never mind, there's no pockets in shrouds.
Jol Wilkinson
An excellent show, pleasant atmosphere, good trade support, good layouts including several under construction. Some people don't like that, but it does show how various techniques are used. The B&B was very well stocked and busy on Saturday. I met several RMwebbers, some of whom "outed" themselves. One or two I already new but hadn't recognised them behind their non de plumes.
RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted April 16, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 16, 2018 Had a good time on Saturday and worth the 1 1/2 hour rail journey from Settle. Nice to see the even P4ers have their finger-poking and derailing moments as well as us 00-gaugers. The standard of the modelling was inspirational though. Best selection of traders I've seen at such a small show too and I could have spent far more than was good for my bank balance. Not a photographer so no pics. PenrithBeacon
I went on Sunday and thought it was by far the best of the three S4Ns (over 5 years) I have attended. It was noticeable that the hall was more heavily populated with exhibits and traders than the previous two visits, I thought to the advantage of the atmosphere which was nicely busy. One suggestion though, could chairs be provided at Roger Carpenter's stand please. I appreciate that this will probably result in a redesign of the exhibition space to some extent, but my back really suffered as a consequence of the bending and standing still while looking for that must have view. So much so that I had to leave because I couldn't find anywhere with sufficient lumbar support on the site. The car has it, but it takes hours to recover so I drove back to the B&B although I did nip in to the Middleton Railway in search of their NER 0-4-0T to take some detail pictures. No luck, it has been withdrawn from service and was in the out-of-bounds workshop. Regards
County of Yorkshire
My first visit to a dedicated finescale show was an impressive one, given that I'm more of a Donny - York - Hull show kind of guy. The trade support was better then some bigger counterparts and I sank some life savings into a stash of David Geen coaches before he retires - which was worthwhile as I don't think the sale of his range is anywhere near. Also pleasing to see Model Railway Developments as I needed some Dean coach buffers. The quality of modelling was sublime - the finescale moniker more than living up to its name. What shone through for me though was the quality of the rolling stock; much of it kit and scratch built. One can often see sublime scenic modelling at the more mainstream shows, but often these gilded stages are populated with RTR actors - not here though. Andy Y did say to me at the 2016 Donny Show that I would probably appreciate attending a fine scale show and he was spot-on. Now for the pictorial: Faringdon A sublime kit built F13 slip, built by the hand of Stephen Williams himself Kettlewell Lee-on-the-Solent Picton A work in progress but some sublime NER rolling stock. Pulborough The show award-winner! Clutton I was very taken with Clutton - almost Pendon-esque in its scenery and scope. Hope some find these pics of interest.
