RMweb Gold Popular Post mudmagnet Posted March 31, 2018 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 31, 2018 Several months ago I decided to build a small diorama of a depot for display and photographing my locos. Also, I wanted to make detail parts and have somewhere to fit them. The track plan is very simple, two parallel, with half outside the shed and the other inside. One road, at the front has an inspection platform (Peco) and the rail is code 75. All the structures are scratchbuilt and designed to be viewed from the side, although the roof is removable. There is also a viewing opening at the end of the shed, just perfect for getting the camera at track level. There is still plenty to do, but I will add a few photos and some details on the construction.

RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted April 1, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2018 Another view a bit further along the shed, this time with my Heljan class 16 and showing a few of the details added. There are a mixture of parts, the pallets & brake blocks from Bachmann, the shelving unit from Scale Model Scenary and the steps / bench from Severn Models.

SouthernBlue80s
Great looking photo plank. I did something with a shed in the background to photograph mine too. Cheers Steve
marc smith
Any more news on this smashing little diorama Richard?Actually - debate here; is it a diorama or a micro layout?I was once told by someone who builds models for museums, that a diorama, strictly speaking, is staticIf there's movement of trains - then it must be a layout, no matter how small.... RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted November 4, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) It certainly has been a long time since doing very much on the diorama or indeed posting any photos. I recently completed some stillages and loco access ladders assembled and painted from Scale Model Scenery kits. So, a few photos attached. Duplicated photo removed. luke the train spotter
Wow! If I couldn't see that bit of wood in the first picture I would believe that it's real! Stunning work!

1722
That bottom photo MUST be real, mustn’t it? It’s absolutely spot on: the slight yellowing of the walls, the floor, the weathering on the loco. It’s all top notch.
luke the train spotter
I must agree with you Chris. Stunning work and fantastic attention payed to the different tones and shades.
RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted November 13, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 13, 2018 Thanks. Yes is a model. Very pleased with the weathering on the Western copied from photos.
Woody C
Extraordinary modelling - industrial Pendon springs to mind with a level of detail, skill and observation that makes it hard to accept that its not photographs of a real place. Many thanks for sharing your work! Woody
luke the train spotter
I think many railway modeling magazines would be interested in your work, you should send off some pictures to the editors, I reckon they would make a great article.
