Geoff Endacott
Nine weeks to go and the work starts in earnest. We are now selling advertising space in the show guide which can raise as much as £1,000. Geoff Endacott
Geoff Endacott
I will soon be talking to the leisure centre about public catering. We would like to do our own. The problem isn't the prices, which seem to have caused problems at other shows. It's a lack of capacity. A venue which usually has to cater for about a hundred swimmers and badminton players over a weekend struggles when more than two thousand model railway enthusiasts turn up. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted February 22, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 22, 2019 As I missed Trainwest last year I was unable to use my '£1 off at the door' voucher from 2017. Would it be possible to use it this year please?

Geoff Endacott
Shuttle bus now confirmed so we intended to run a connection to and from Chippenham Station for both days of the exhibition. Unfortunately, our buses will have to connect with the rail replacement buses because Network Rail are messing around again - despite electrification through Chippenham having been abandoned for the time being at least. https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/planned-engineering/bristol2019 However, in light of the above I am now investigating the possibility of running the bus to and from Westbury instead which will still have trains Any thoughts? Geoff Endacott The train service from the London direction to Westbury on the Saturday is not exactly frequent with Westbury arrivals at - 09.27, 12.19, and 13.53 (and no others really in sensible time to visit an exhibition) with return to London departures at - 14.11, 15.03, 16.13, and 19.14 (plus a 16.20 via TAUNTON!!!!!) But it would be good for folk from the Salisbury/Southampton/Portsmouth direction with trains arriving at Westbury at - 09.10 and then more or less hourly. And with an hourly (at times half hourly in late afternoon) return service Arrivals from Bristol area again broadly hourly from 09.43 onwards but involve a rail replacement 'bus service. (so in effect perhaps no worse than a rail replacement 'bus service to Chippenham) The station refreshment facilities at Chippenham are considerably better than those at Westbury unless things have changed a lot.
Geoff Endacott
The plan at the moment is to cover both options with the bus running between Chippenham and Westbury stations, via the exhibition. I am looking at train and replacement bus times in order to work out the most sensible connections. Geoff Endacott
Geoff Endacott
Special offer. Online advance tickets will allow each purchaser a copy of the 40-page A4 full colour exhibition guide. These normally cost £2 making the price of admission at the door with a guide £10. If you book online in advance you will only pay a total of £6.60 - a saving of more than one third. https://www.wegottickets.com/event/458391 Geoff Endacott

Geoff Endacott
Buses to and from Westbury Station don't look practical because the station isn't served by very many trains. The plan is therefore to keep to our usual shuttle bus to and from Chippenham, timed to meet GWR's replacement buses. Geoff Endacott
Important news. We have secured permission to organise our own light refreshments. Many exhibitions seem to have problems with in-house catering. The prices at Springfield haven't been a problem, but they have never been able to cope with the number of people we bring in. This year, we will have our own stand serving teas, coffees, cakes and biscuits. That should take the pressure off the main cafe which will operate as usual but hopefully with rather less demand. Geoff Endacott
We now have a weather forecast for the next two weeks with not much rain in prospect.
