Marcoblanco
Maybe it would even things out everyone who has got a 66 with no problems to post here with just a 'all fine' and have a count up, that might give those of us looking to buy a fairer reflection of the model.

Popular Post Shoey
I’ve been greedy and have 17 in total. Photos show the loco numbers/product codes. I have checked and tested all 17. Some are dc and some are DCC fitted (no sound fitted ones) I’ve had 6 out of the 17 that wobble, I have removed the axle box covers on the ones that wobble and it immediately eliminated the wobble on all 6 and they run smooth and wobble free at all speeds. I’ve tested them in both directions at all speeds across some Hornby code 100 points (R8077 & R8078) and none of them derailed. The ones that wobbled were: DB Schenker 66097 DB Schenker 66118 Freightliner Powerhaul 66504 Freightliner 66502 Freightliner 66513 Freightliner 66621 I have not removed the body on any of them (as I have no need to at the moment) but straight out of the box there were no parts that had come loose and everything was/is intact. Out of the 17 I have one (DRS 66301) that has one axle box cover missing which isn’t in the box which I’m sure Hattons will supply me with once they have them in stock. Nameplates are firmly fixed in place and are all level (to my eyes anyway!) no glue marks or any other kind of imperfections to the paintwork. Overall, I have to say I am over the button moon with them, down to performance and detail. Going on my experience, I’d recommend them to anyone contemplating buying one. 11 6 2

I think the post was wanting a poll somewhere in the thread so I was thinking it would be a case of clicking 17 times rather than making 17 posts. But either way if something like this does happen it does need to be so that multiples can be done. Also given that some will be returning units and getting ones that may or may not also need replacing votes would be needed for those!

Looking at the forum quite a few people have bought multiple models so this feature would be appreciated. 7 minutes ago, newbryford said: There will be some purchasers who may consider it a minor issue but still requiring replacement....... Those were just some suggestions. You make a good point though. It would take consideration to make sure catagories dont alienate anyones experience with the class 66. Maybe if people could add their own catagories it would solve that. Edited April 5, 2020 by Br60066 Spelling error

The difficulty with things like that is that sometimes it results in loads of categories with just one vote which in turn means the message is actually cluttered. I think the returned or not returned isn't that relevant, more minor or major issues regardless of how it was solved.

I'm one of the ones who missed out on them so I'm kicking myself. I do have a large logo 66 that'll be getting fitted with sound as soon as hattons get the decoders in stock. Apparently they are all in Germany atm. Just need to stick it on a rolling road and see how it runs before then.

atom3624
Not Hattons' 66, but an excellent insight into the intricacies of model locomotive manufacture I think. Al. 2
RMweb Gold john new Posted April 5, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 5, 2020 (edited) Having just completed a detailed examination of the supplied livery on 66957 (The Society named engine) as part of my review of it for a future SLS Journal could one of the experts on contemporary Freightliner livery please answer the queries below:- 1) Has the green that sits behind the large Freightliner logo on the bodysides gone from lighter, as it definitely was in 2009 for the naming ceremony (and as it still was in a close-up photo of the nameplate in my collection as in May 2013), to darker as on the supplied model? With the follow up - if yes - when? 2) When were the round topped cabside logos added that are visible in many on-line photos of the engine (post-2016) first added? These are not on the model either. Thanks in advance for any info' supplied; if you would like to be correctly credited for the info' please PM me any real names that differ from your on-line pseudonym. Thanks for that. Probably yes, still on some in See later responses, it was the Zero Injuries logo and in photos as late as 7th Jan 2020*. We don't get them down here in the 3rd rail desert of Dorset and modern traction is not a prime interest of mine (hence asking the questions to get the review accurate). Also makes sense as to why they have left it off if this is supposed to be an "as now" model. All my own detail photos of it are from the 2009 naming plus a few later one's sent in for Journal illustrations plus obviously the many available via Google images. Please respect copyright. That's definitely the one I had spotted in on-line photos. Was just about to post a link to a clear shot of it taken at Ipswich in 2018. Are they still on 66957 - this photo shows they were in January? They are not on the model. For a non-modern traction specialist this dating of livery options is a bit of nightmare, to say the least! Mark Saunders
As far as I can tell/remember the 50 year logo was on them all and was slowly removed after about two years! The Zero injuries came in with the acquisition of Freightliner by Genesee and Wyoming. 1

Hi John, A few Freightliner 66’s carried a 40th year sticker 1965-2005 for a couple of years. 66540 Ruby was named to celebrate the occasion. Bachmann did a club model of it and I’ve 66952 with the stickers on. I’ve no idea how many and which numbers actually got them. If you search 66540 on Flickr you should find an image of the sticker to at least help a bit. thanks Mark
SouthernMafia
I've been enjoying running my sound 66621 up and down, it really is an excellent sound project from Biffo and I've passed on my praise. We discussed the radar hiss, which is quite a prominent sound to the 66, and it was a shame to hear this was to be 'off' by default, and turned on by F14, which is a pain to to get to on a NCE controller. Bif kindly provided me with some CVs to tweak, and now I have radar hiss activated all the time when the loco is moving, being heard every 25 seconds, much better. Here's what was tweaked to achieve this, must be done in this order: CV31 = 16, CV32 = 9, CV312 = 32 This maps the hiss sound to F1, and works well for me. There is a slight problem when changing direction in that radar hiss is deactivated again, but pressing F1 (or F14 in original format) off and on again quickly reactivates it. With the fade out/in of the sounds when pressing F1 whilst moving, the sound never actually goes off provided you do it quick enough, so it's not noticeable. Next job is to sort out the lights!
