There's no pleasing some people!! :jester:

Well, you know me: Mr. Picky.

To be honest, there is only that and the gap between switch rail and stock rail (because proto:87 is not for everyone - I get that) that I could be picky about.

This is simply a lovely layout, with superb modelling.

Hi,

Thanks to all for your comments.

Seb, you are doing a good job modeling the Northeastern United States. What state are you modeling? I can tell that Locomotive #200 is a former Conrail unit. Keep up the good work!

I'm trying to model the North of the NY state, but no particular places/town.

Who stole the switchsrand? ;)

   Ok ... I still have some work to do on the layout and switch stands are parts of it.

This orange locomotive looks like a former Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern Railway unit(now part of Canadian National Railway's subsidiary Wisconsin Central Ltd.).

That's a nice Intermountain model, Seb. The paint scheme is the last one of the Illinois Central Gulf  before they went back to black as the Illinois Central Railroad. I probably rode this engine as a brakeman when it was in the orange and white paint back in the late 60s.

It's a Illinois Central in "Solid Orange"

Thanks for your comment Barry. GP10 is one of my favoutire EMD unit!

That sounds excellent, and matches the quality of the rest of the layout! ;)

Thanks Alex!

I forgot that the former Illinois Central and Illinois Central Gulf railroads used to have solid orange colored locomotives back in the day. Coincidentally, the Canadian National Railway bought the IC, ICG, and EJ&E in the last 20 years.

I cut my railroading teeth on old ICG GP10s on the MidSouth (ex-IC) line between Meridian and Shreveport. Now I work for NS, but I wish I still had two of those old GP10s to switch with on my paper mill job. The GP10s were solid, reliable engines, and you couldn't, and in my mind still can't, beat them on a switch engine or local. Give me 5 GP10s and 9000 tons and we'll move some freight!

Thanks Seb, for a pleasant memory from my younger days.

Regards,

Thanks Wendell and Paul for your comments.

And a special thanks to Tom and Barry for the stories about using the real GP10.

Thanks for the wooden enclosure info, everything about this layout is excellent.
The weathering on the white building is very realistic.
Paul

The weathering is not finished yet on the white building. I have also a lot of details to add.

What advantage over polystyrene does the wood confer on the sound?

Is the enclosure open on the downward facing side, closed, or ported?

Dear Simon,

Being wood, it has a different (warmer) resonance, and more-pliant back-pressure behaviour than a taut rigid air-tight plastic box...

Now if only Lok had some EQ to tame that over-emphasised 800-1200hz range...

(Izotope Rx paints a very interesting picture...)

Happy modelling,

All it's said or so by "Prof Klyzlr" ... To my hears, and I assume it's perhaps very subjective, the wooden enclosure sounds better, with more "bass".

It' s a closed enclosure. There is a square hole just under the speaker, where this one is glued.

Hello Mark,

That is some very nice modeling.

You have balanced the scenery and the trackage very well!

Hello,

LVN 200 brings a loaded hopper to the unloading pit at Lakemont.

PS : The hopper is in need of hard weathering!
