Metcalf S&C kits

I've seen loads of these in N and 00 in model shops and am wondering how accurate they are. I am very new to the S&C and therefore don't know much, but if these kits are OK buildings, I might make my layout look a little S&C.

Hi Peter.

 

First, DO model the S&C as it's a wonderful railway with plenty to keep you going for a lifetime!

 

Second, Metcalfe kits are usually well-researched, so if card kit building is your thing, go for it. There are ready-to-plant buildings available, to a certain extent, if you prefer.

 

If you enjoy proper scratch building, then provided you have plenty of time, the viaducts, bridges, tunnels, goods sheds and station buildings will keep you going for hundreds of hours. Have a look at my Kirkby Luneside thread, or Mike's Dent layout for examples.
