rich1608
Hello I wonder if anyone here recognises the miniature railway in this film from the 1960s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8JRaFFpUQY&feature=youtu.be&t=7m50s It might be somewhere in Sussex as most of the rest of the film is standard gauge in that county. I can't find anything online about a 1960s miniature railway that is also on a pig farm. Many thanks Richard
Pete S
I Belive it may be a line built to serve a pig farm by Sir Thomas Salt At Shillingstone House. I remember visiting with the Bristol Railway Circle in the early 1960's.
rich1608
Thank you for your helpful reply. Having looked further it seems you are quite correct and the film is indeed of the Shillingstone Miniature Railway. The photos in this article show the same buildings in the film http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/grahamallen/Old%20Hardyeans/School%20Dance/School%20Dance%20Part%202/article.pdf

RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted May 28, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 28, 2018 I believe the owner apologised for the strange smelly creatures there that day, but the pigs said they didn't mind. Mike.
PatB
Unless the film's been subject to some serious overcranking (it doesn't look like it, or not much anyway) it looks as if the train isn't hanging about.
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted May 28, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 28, 2018 Lots of it is in reverse (back to front?). Interesting though. Phil

From the speed of the man walking in one of the shots it could be overcranked. The line also had an ex Surrey Border and Camberley Garratt but I'm not sure if this was the same one that's now at the Royal Victoria Railway. I agree that it's been wound up a bit, but the human movement doesn't have the characteristic jerkiness that occurs when it's been really overdone.
