The driver is a friend of mine and somewhere during the test both engines shut down and wouldn't restart.... quality  items have certainly been purchased  by abelio

They would have probably been better off by trying to re establish  the NBL management  then get them to build a fleet of baby  deltics  with crossley engines and pantographs for 1500dc .... far more reliable and useful than what they have got

It’s obvious that you are fanatically opposed to the Stadlers, so I’m not sure if this post was meant to be funny or is actually meant seriously?

They are on test. Like every new train before them, they will fail from time to time. That’s why they need to prove themselves by running over a specified amount of problem-free miles before they are accepted into service.

But I’m guessing you knew all that and are, as they say, using any stick to beat this particular dog with. Or do you think your campaign will stop their entry into service so we can instead keep the 90s and Mk3s? Though I seem to remember the 90s had a fairly unhappy entry into service with all sorts of poor reliability issues...

Paul - I doubt Russ was being serious, wishful thinking but he knows Baby Deltics, in whatever form are never going to return and probably understands change is inevitable (but he doesn't have to like it) so I don't think we need to head off down the argument route.

Reported as 424, 423 and 328 - I'll check when I get my photos off the camera later after the tea maker has passed. (B1 apparently)

On Wednesday 03 July I went out for the new unit having its mileage accumulation run to Thetford and back (from Norwich). I left Eccles Road after it had headed back to Norwich in blissful ignorance ...

I noticed a path appear for a Cambridge to Norwich new unit (they are 5Q..) and so headed out for this in the afternoon. When it appeared it was hauled by 37608 which confused me, when did that go to Cambridge I thought ? When I got home, I wrote up my notes for the photos and noticed that I'd missed a Norwich - Cambridge move (37 hauled) which had passed Eccles 5-10 minutes after I'd left

Here's the one I did get - it's squashed up because there's a gang installing extra lighting on the station, and they were sitting just to the left, with their legs out stretched unfortunately.
