eastwestdivide
York 1984, from the Holgate Bridge area. Still with 2 catering cars (when did they end the use of a kitchen + a buffet?): Â Swindon, 1984, a non-stop service (when did they stop being common?) with 253001 on the front power car, and another disappearing towards Didcot: Â Barrow-upon Soar 1985, with a 1980s approach to safety: Â Dawlish Warren 1985, passing the camping coaches. eastwestdivide
Oops, the number on the sliding door of -187. An extra task to do if the door has to be replaced (well, 2 tasks - remove number from old door, apply number to power car again)
Peter Kazmierczak
Still find it hard not to think of some of that vehicle numbering as being APT.

Owd Bob
I got given this badge on board the very first H.S.T. i ever saw and rode in back in the mid' '70's, i caught the then very new and futuristic looking HST at Weston.Super Mare. whilst i was on my family hols' (at the nearby Brean Sands) to go to Bristol T.M. for a day out spotting class 50's. Â Like me it's now going rusty around the edges.

RMweb Premium Commoner Posted August 26, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 26, 2018 (edited) Was this one unique in carrying Executive livery with InterCity, but not the '125' ? Â Dave No Dave, there were quite a few. From observation it seemed that the "125" began to disappear on some ER power cars soon after the introduction of Swallow livery and the re-branding of Inter-City in 1987. I never observed a WR power car with the "125" removed. Here are two ER examples photographed at Doncaster on Monday 18th January 1988. RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted August 27, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 27, 2018 43165 leads 1B15 Paddington-Pembroke Dock into Llanelli as 1L62 PMB-PAD disappears on the Up line. (Summer) Saturday 18Aug2018 with weather to match. The summer dated PMB trains (2 per Saturday) are solidly HST's with just 2 Saturdays left now. Apparently the longer length 800 coaches won't negotiate the tightly curved Narberth tunnel (twinned with Ryde St Johns). What will happen next summer is anyone's guess.

Trev52A
053 and 041 have the BR logo at opposite ends of the InterCity. Â Yes, well spotted! I hadn't noticed that myself. The 'double arrow' was normally to the left of the 'InterCity' of course, whichever side of the power car it was on. Â I wonder if 43053 was a one off? No doubt someone will have pictures of others if it wasn't. Â Trevor
