Doesn't seen to have been about recently from what I've seen. As Stationmaster Mike's said on the other thread, that set at Neville Hill's going to need a thorough exam including lifting to check for bogie pivot damage before it can be let back out, even with another power car. At least, assuming the rest of the set is ok, they can just change the power car and let it back out, the whole of that Satsuma's going to out of action for some time. There were 2, EC64 and NL65, the second of which has been withdrawn, EC64 remains in service. Edit- 42210 is indeed part of EC64. Â I wonder if NL65 is the one being reliveried into (nearly) original livery? Edited November 23, 2019 by royaloak
Trev52A
As a change at Newcastle from LNER examples, here are a dirty 43304 (at the front) and a nicely clean 43357 (at the rear) on a southbound  CrossCountry train on 8th November this year.   I suspect the apparent difference in colour of the grey is due to the way the light is reflecting off the surface. I didn't notice it at the time.  Trevor Edited November 24, 2019 by Trev52A typo
Trev52A
@ Jack Mc  From the cleanliness of 43208 in your picture it looks as if it has been returned to service very recently, I'm guessing. Which is good news for me - I still haven't seen it yet after starting to keep a record from this summer. Hope I catch it before they all go by Christmas!  Cheers Trevor Edited November 24, 2019 by Trev52A typo

I think I've seen a picture of 238 on Twitter, looks equally smart (and different).

Trev52A
Three from Newcastle taken today, 28th November   43317 during a break in the clouds, waiting to head north  Dwarfed by the castle keep, 43305 arrives with a southbound train... ...with 43238 at the rear, quite a difference compared to the NRM vinyls it carried previously!  And here's 43299 at the rear of a later southbound train - the other one with a new revised livery  Here's another look at one I uploaded last year in the hope that someone might be able to date it more precisely than I could at the time. It's 43057 'Bounds Green' departing south from Newcastle, probably in 1988 or 1989  Cheers Trevor

Trev52A
Details of the final LNER HST runs on 18th to 21st December are beginning to appear - see UK Railtours site. One way tickets on the HST but free return by any scheduled LNER train, if I'm reading correctly the email someone sent me. Â Trevor

You book the tour through UK Railtours, then email your booking to LNER to apply for free tickets for the opposite direction.  18th "The Northern Lights" Edinburgh - Aberdeen - Inverness 19th "The Highland Chieftain" Inverness -Edinburgh 20th "The Northumbrian" Edinburgh - Leeds 21st "The West Riding Limited" Leeds - Kings Cross  I like the appropriate choice of titles for the tours. First class on all tours, and both classes on the final one already fully booked.  The HST set, apparently, fully repainted Blue/Grey especially for the occasion.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted December 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 7, 2019 Booked onto the Leeds-KX run as soon as the tickets went on sale. Emailed LNER as soon as the booking was confirmed. Got a reply the next day with a reference number, to allow me to collect the return tickets from a LNER station. The tickets are for a time that I had asked for. All done in a very professional and pleasant way, well done to all concerned in organising what will hopefully be a fitting send-off (on this route)Â to these brilliant machines !! Â Cheers, Phil.
Trev52A
Anyone got any news as to which LNER power cars (and possibly the whole train?*) are getting the full retro paint job?  Cheers Trevor  * or is this expecting a bit too much?! Edited December 7, 2019 by Trev52A added 'LNER' in case it was not obvious!

Jack Mc
I think it was on Flickr, but a little while ago, not long after 43238 was painted all over red, I saw a photo inside I believe Craigentinny, with 43206 and another power car rubbed down. The tour hadn't been announced then, but putting two and two together, now makes sense I suppose. Â Jack

Jack Mc
LNER and Cross Country 43s in York and Darlington, 7/12/19  43311  43321, 43378 was the other power car.  43290 passes in the opposite direction.  43314 and 43319 head into York.  43319  I can't remember for certain, but believe this was 43384  43301   Whilst in York I decided to have a quick visit to the NRM to have a look at recently acquired 43002 Sir Kenneth Grange, as I never crossed paths with it whilst on the Great Western. I must admit it looks very smart and although the split between paint and vinyl behind the cab is visible, I think the loco is presentable and serves it's purpose well.  Jack

Trev52A
Went to York today to see HSTs in a different setting and didn't see any! All the Aberdeen/Inverness trains I saw were Azumas. But IÂ might have missed some when IÂ went to the NRM for a warm up (awful weather!) Â Inside I got this shot I'm pleased with - the last steam loco built and the first production HST power car together. Trev52A
I read somewhere last week that the final LNER HST runs in normal service would be today (Sunday 15th December). Anyone got any info or pictures, please?  Thanks in advance, Trevor  (I nearly said 'Cheers', but it's nothing to cheer about, is it?)
