Leander
The Autumnal flagship event of the EM Gauge Society will take place as usual this year over the weekend of September 8th/9th at Partington Sports Village, Manchester. On display will be at least ten finescale layouts representing the best in 4mm scale modelling; plus we have great pleasure to include this year, a guest layout in the form of Martin Stringer’s 7mm scale ‘Tollesbury Quay’ (MRJ 246) making one of its rare exhibition appearances. In addition there will be plenty of opportunity to stock up on modelling supplies with around 20 specialist traders in attendance, plus a wide variety of ‘Show you how’ demonstrations and other special interest society stands. As usual there will also be the EMGS Trade Stand and the extremely popular Members’ Second Hand Sales. Venue: Partington Sports Village Chapel Lane Partington Manchester M31 4ES Opening times: Saturday 8th September: 10.30am to 5.30pm Sunday 9th September: 10.00am to 4.30pm Layouts: Croft Depot (P4) – 1960s BR (NE Region) - (MRJ 215) Easingwold East (EM) – 1960s BR(E) – (RM Aug 2012) Glaisden (EM) – 1960s BR West Riding/Calder Valley Hartburn (EM) – BR (NER) 1970s Kinmundy (EM) – 1970s BR Scottish Region Leeman Road (P4) – 1960s BR (NE Region) Rolleston-on-Dove (EM) – Late 1940s BR Midlands Three Score Vale (EM) – 1960s BR steam South Wales Waterloo Street (P4) – 1970s BR Scottish Region Whithorn (EM) – Ex GSWR Southern Scotland 1960s Guest Layout: Tollesbury Quay (7mm finescale) – Martin Stringer (MRJ 246) Traders: Alan Gibson 247 Developments Accurascale Bill Hudson Transport Books Branchlines Brassmasters EBMA Hobby & Craft Eileen’s Emporium EMGS Trade Stand High Level Kits Judith Edge Kits Lanarkshire Models & Supplies London Road Models Model Railway Developments RT Models Stevenson Carriages & Millholme Models Wizard Models Stoney Bridge Structures Special Interest/Line Societies: Cumbrian Railways Association Great Central Railway Society North Eastern Railway Association Demonstrators: Andy Clayton - Diesel & Electric Locos Peter Crichton & Wayne Merridew - DCC Brian Davis - Wagon Loads Tony Gee – Buckingham Great Central Vernon Harrod – Model Wagon Construction Chris Hewitt – Resin Casting Pete Hill – RTR Conversions to EM Roy Jackson – Loco Construction John James – Split Chassis Construction Geoff Kent – Modelling in Plasticard Chris Rogers – Etched Brass Loco Kits Peter Sutherland – Coach Conversions Jason Thomas – Model Wagon Construction Mark Towers - Weathering Techniques Vincent Worthington – Coach Construction N.B. SAT NAV – M31 4ES By Public Transport – On the Saturday there will be the usual Free Vintage Routemaster Bus Service from and to Urmston Railway Station during the show opening hours. However, due to poor uptake of this service on Sundays in previous years, the Vintage Bus may not be operating on the Sunday this year. Please check for updates via the EMGS website nearer the date of the event. As an alternative, Partington is on bus route 255 (Stagecoach) between the village and Piccadilly Gardens (Manchester) and which runs via Urmston (Queens Road) where there is the main line railway station. The nearest bus stop in Partington (Methodist Church) is on the A6144 main road, just near to the junction with Chapel Lane.
