I don’t unfortunately, does an SF90 even exist? I should be starting my own plans for the Balfour Beatty L6, L8 and L2 D40EC today and hope to get one finished by today too.

best regards, Matthew

No worries!!

I thought SF90 towers had already been mentioned here, but I'm probably wrong!!

Ooh sounds fantastic, I'd love to see one when it's finished

Kind regards, Felix

That was probably me getting confused with an SF60 lol. I’ll post a pic when it’s done which might be tomorrow.

Very nice catch! Looks like that L6 behind the L9s is a BICC L6 D20EC.

best regards, Matthew

Thanks mate! Yes indeed it is a D20EC.

Here's the view from the other side!

And when it switches to L6 again

Kind regards, Felix

The reason for those is because the line is in the flight path of Filton airfield so the pylons need to be lowheight. There is some more along the M4 which connects to a L8 line.

West bound to the Severn Bridge ,then under and off to Wales. As with the L34 and SF60 designs these have internal access ladders.

Ahh yes, I believe the other 2 L9's are deviation towers which cross the M32/M4 junction.

Those L6's stop just before the crossing and then continue on the other side, unlike the L3's which just cross over the Severn estuary.

Are those two L6 lines linked??

Yes F3A01CBC-0268-46FD-9FE3-3AD815563157.jpeg.6e729f344d158bdef865881fff50048b.jpeg ,although once they resume on the Welsh side the designs change from BICC to Balfour Beatty. The line continues past Newport then heading north , terminating at a large substation west of Caerphilly . From there the L6 route eventually joins another from Walham/Oxford heading off to Pembroke powerstation.

Ahh yes, on the Welsh side they do switch between BB and BICC quite a bit.

I must say I've followed this long line of L6's and I've also noticed how there are a lot of crossings with the L3 line which runs from Whitson to Latteridge/Latteridge to Beanacre.

It's funny as those two link up to the L2 line which crosses under the L6 BICC line which links up to the L9 LD towers I photographed

Yeah it is, it’s been a few years since I have been there but I do certainly remember them. Also can you DM me the pics please?

best regards, Matthew

Tolworth show today , excellent array of layouts including this O gauge Manchester to Sheffield recreation.  Sadly when approaching electrical utility modelling ,with the exception of a Hornby Skaledale transformer substation,  the only reminder was the photographic back scene on this layout .3C5EAEE0-04CA-46A7-AA23-B5E056F181B5.jpeg.d855247456861e40c1a26890044884dc.jpegB4477B6C-C21A-4CD3-9A64-251C3FD501EB.jpeg.532a813e7e909c483c2cea184106746c.jpeg7D7EFB17-9E9E-4877-BE1B-293970E21B73.jpeg.94d98ab66132c424cbc03110ca7f6269.jpeg28256B4B-CD9D-4B63-ACF4-5B27408BF45E.jpeg.495993c68f445f58c3892651b9e418b4.jpeg1B61C6A5-4C30-417B-A666-B62C578002EC.jpeg.e83506d113baf539dd1ba24c91c8ba97.jpeg91A72041-4CDA-42C0-A885-2B3DF4321A3C.jpeg.f9250cdb82ad013563c4f50d4872324c.jpeg

Did you say it was O gauge with a Hornby Skaledale substation? Aren’t they 2 completely different scales? The layout is excellent though and although there’s no model pylons, at least there’s some reference to some being there like the back scene.
