rob D2
I’ve got about five Bachmann ones . Unless I put my varifocals on I can’t really see the rivets I’m about to buy some better tanks from their spares, as well as removing the class 57 bits off the bogies - shouldn’t really have to do all this ! I think the 47 is ripe for someone to do what Hattons is doing with the 66
SouthernBlue80s
I have limited space. So here are a few pictures of my set up. The stock is stored underneath on storage trays I have built in the four cabinets that the layout is on. I'm impressed by the tidiness and organisation of your set up in that post above, puts my chaotic garage and messy workbench to shame - must try harder! Crisis Rail
Got some better light, worked out how to use the focus on my camera phone and took a few pictures of some of the detail and hopefully got some clearer pics. Looking forward to getting my class 37s finished at some point. Faded gronk at the fuel point with rubbish on the track. SouthernBlue80s
More great photo's Steve, I like the PW train, how did you get the finish on the ZFV it looks spot on. Steve. Hi Steve, I hope you are well. I did the under-frames buffers ect in my usual coat of railmatch fame dirt. I paint with weathering powders and I use cotton buds to blend them in. I am a big fan off DCC concepts track rust as a powder colour, I also mix up my own combinations of powders as well. I often use a darker powder mixture to pick out the details and I aim to look at as my of Paul Bartlett´s pictures as possible to see how and where the dirt falls. I also often use the brushes in the same direction often in a vertical motion, as that is how dirt and water would often fall onto a a bit of stock. I often also bush weathering powder upwards off the bogies/under-fames to get that feeling of dirt having come upwards from the tracks. It is really hard to explain - but hopefully that gives you a bit of feel for some of my approaches. All the best.
sb67
Thanks Steve, that ZFV looks exactly how I remember a lot of PW stock where the rust has overtaken the black paint. I've got some PW stock myself and I started a couple of grampus wagons ages ago, feeling inspired to get them out of the box again! Steve,

SouthernBlue80s
I have spent two days trying to improve the ground cover in the yard....to make it more yard like. Having walked away and re looked at it - it still abit too brown I think and needs some subtle greys added. Anyway 47010 has delivered 3 HEAs into the yard and will soon head out 37253 is parked up for the weekend on the stabling point at the other end.
SouthernBlue80s
Tried to capture that South Wales stabling point feeling on a quiet Sunday. A few more shots of 47010 in brighter light
