I decided the end of the fuel point needed one of those line closed flags at the end of it.

So stage one - Ale

Two pins trimmed to the correct length. Railmatch frame dirt on them. Made the flag out of toilet paper and pva water mix. It stuck to pins surprisingly well. Trimmed the edges off and painted a dull dirty red. And once dry a touch of weathering.

47285 is on PW duty with weathered dutch OCAs and dogfish in tow.

The O8 shuffles about the yard. With an OCA and three wagons of domestic coal.

I have just completed 33053 and 33062 so looking forward to using them.

Think these will be my last shots with my camera phone.IMG_20190227_153051.jpg.986e67c9ca4ade3b0737e3f3545e2070.jpg

That is a nice mix of vacuum and air-braked stock there.

The air-braked Speedlink network started to properly build up around 1981/2, while the vacuum braked wagon load network finally ceased in May 1984, so for a couple of years freight services were duplicated in some parts of BR.

You have captured the run-down atmosphere very well,

cheers

Thanks Steve. I want to get modelling again...I just need to find the time

That can be frustrating!  I've had spells like that, I keep planning stuff until I've got time to model, trouble is I've then got too many ideas to deal with!

Steve.

Nice work,

Could you describe how the yard surface was achieved?

Sorry if I missed it!

Also the backscene looks the business is that off the shelf?

 Cheers

Thanks

As quick overview. after painting the baseboard brown

1.I lay the track

2.paint rails then sleepers

3.Ballast with a mixture of colours - often fine

4.Blend in with weathering powder

5.then I use pollyfiller to get the filled in feel

6.I also then use scale sand  and use that to fill in the gaps as well.

7.Then more paint but largely weathering powder.

I do it in stages and keep refining it as I go. I use a limited pallet and try to use colours that are in keeping with the backscene.

The backscene is off the shelf.

ID backscenes are good, that particular one is Gaugemaster which are also very good.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Steve
