Brian, apologies if the answer iselsewhere on this thread but what are the origins of the pit buildings?

I've been inspired by Bleanserchan's incline too, so will be looking at propelling up the incline to the offstage colliery on my Cwmhir layout. At the moment I'm thinking of letting the GWR do that with panniers but might have to consider making it a PO line up.

Well I was going to the Cardiff small railway show yesterday but life got in the way

But today i have fitted the Backscene i have also razed up the Bachmann building 

44-0086 Industrial gate house i have also removed the gate of it

Now my Hornby 27xx just fits

This is looking rather nice Brian. Good use of the RTP buildings and there is nothing like a snug fitting archway.

At the Peterborough show i picked up 2 of Severn models Stables

I have built them as one building still some small parts to add but heres the building

At the BRM Doncaster Show i picked up a Chimney & a loading dock from Skytrex & have painted them as well

Tim’s right; very few valleys pits had room on site to dump waste, but I can’t quite visualise it in your situation; the backscene has no spoil heaps up on the mountain.  I suppose it would work if you suggested it coming off the viewing side, where there is of course a river and another mountainside...
