RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted April 15, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) I think it’s safe to say I wouldn’t win any awards if I were plastering a wall Or icing a cake Just need to paint the plaster brown and touch up the black edging boards Edited April 15, 2019 by chuffinghell 6
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted April 15, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) I’ve just finished painting a coat of brown on the plaster to both seal it and as a background colour for the grass should any of the background show through Unfortunately I only had burnt umber artists acrylic and it’s very dark and looks like there’s been a dirty protest over my layout (It's become a diarrhearama) hence the absence of a photo Edited April 16, 2019 by chuffinghell
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted April 16, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 16, 2019 I've had a play about with the photo to see if I can get a general idea of how the landscape might look I've only got microsoft paint at my disposal but it looks okay.............if you squint at a distance

Keep up the good work Thank you, I’m just taking it slow and steady. Checking twice and cutting once, although I’m checking more than twice in most cases Its going to take me a while especially with deciding to modify all the points and add droppers to individual track pieces etc Thank you all for your continued support Chris 9

I think a slow and steady approach is always best. I'm really impressed by your baseboards and landscape forming. From the photographs, it looks like you have got a lovely space for building the layout too. Will you be able to set it up permanently there at home? Thank you, compromises have been made so as not to take over the whole room but I’m pleased with how things are going It’s a permanent setup other than the removable section that I’ll take off when not in use. The end section has been designed to be left in place still allowing the door into the room to open and close But it will be removed when not is use so it doesn’t get accidentally damaged I've still got the far end of the baseboard to finish but there’s no rush 1

It makes such a difference to have a nice comfotable space like that where you can have the layout up to work and eventually play with. Keep up the good work.
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted April 27, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2019 (edited) Back home after a week in Scarborough, first day back and I’m straight into the ‘play room’ Thought I’d have a look at the ash pit as I’m going to have to decide its final position before cutting into the baseboard I wasn’t too keen on the visible join once glued together So used automotive knifing putty, sanded and followed with a coat of Halfrauds primer Turned out quite well, should look better when weathered I’ve only used two of the six sections for the ash pit so I’m going to put an inspection pit inside the engine shed too Edited April 27, 2019 by chuffinghell
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted April 27, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2019 I think I’ll have to give it a blast of light grey as the primer has dried quite dark It may have been better to put brick walling on the inside..... I’ll have to think about that one
AlfaZagato
You may be able to work brick paper in fairly easily, even at this stage.
