RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted February 29, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 29, 2020 Hi Chris, If you have access to a photocopier/scanner you could reduce the size of the noticeboards to fit the space you have available. I think the ones you have shown are meant to be for outside display.

Fortunately I do have access to both for the posters, for signs with just text it might be better if I drew what I wanted on AutoCAD and print them directly And to be honest I didn’t realise the poster boards were for the exterior only....oops
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 29, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 29, 2020 I didn’t like the shiny nature of the stickers so I’ve given the lot a blast of Matt varnish to tone them down Glazing added to the ticket window, I’ll put a half drawn blind on the backside so you can’t see there’s nowt behind it but a plan grey wall I have got a ‘waiting room’ sign/sticker but the text is illegible so I’ve had to give that a miss unfortunately 2
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 29, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 29, 2020 (edited) Yes/No/Maybe? I used blue because I’m fed up of painting grey or brown although perhaps red would be more appropriate? I quite like the blue but I'm open to suggestions Edited February 29, 2020 by chuffinghell 4
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 29, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 29, 2020 I decided I like the blue so no going back now because it’s glued in place Although not correct I’ve ordered a set of the same posters in N gauge just to see if I’d get away with it

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted March 1, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 1, 2020 (edited) Although it won’t be seen I’ve added a floor, mainly to help reduce any light bleeding under the building, help keep things square and basically because I felt like it Before I start on the waiting room I thought I’d better make sure the booking office still fits Once the door is on you’ll hardly see anything other than a little though the glazing of the main doors The light is currently connected to a 9v battery, once wired up properly it will be a lot dimmer Edited March 1, 2020 by chuffinghell 14
RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted March 1, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 1, 2020 All looks very convincing Chris. Even though little may be seen at least you see something and you know it's there. Much better than an empty building especially with lighting. 2
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted March 2, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 2, 2020 Well I’ve made a start on the waiting room One piece down, many more to go I'm going to attempt this differently by cutting and gluing each piece whilst inside the building to get a better fit I made the booking office using measurements and it ended up being too tight a fit

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted March 3, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 3, 2020 As before it looks a bit rough, but hopefully it will look better once it’s finished As previously the primer highlights a few rough areas
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted March 3, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 3, 2020 (edited) Still fits thankfully I’m quite pleased how the area around the window has turned out Edited March 3, 2020 by chuffinghell 9
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted March 4, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 4, 2020 (edited) Before I go any further I'm wondering if I should modify it by cutting out the center section and bringing it forward a few millimeters to create a chimney breast Extremely rough sketch:- Or would I get away with a fireplace on the flat wall as it is? ian.dunn46
Sorry if I'm stirring the pot, but the waiting room is low relief. How do you plan on letting your passengers into the rear/streetside portion? Chimney breast IMHO would look great. Ian

Ian I thought perhaps they would exit from the platform straight through the booking office (green line) but they could equally escape through the waiting room (red line) although I assumed those in the waiting room would be waiting for a train to arrive and enter the waiting room via the booking office and exit onto the platform when their service arrived? Maybe? I don't really know, I'm making it up as I go I suppose I should have put a door on the same wall as the fireplace too Edited March 4, 2020 by chuffinghell
ian.dunn46
You have a 'Keep Out' sign on the BO door, so that's a no go. What I'm saying is that the chimney is on a wall that is only at half depth for that portion of the building, so that infers that there is a another room behind that wall. A Ladies WR/toilet perhaps, thus a door from the waiting room through alongside the fireplace. Twin chimneys above to infer a fireplace for that room. ian.dunn46
It does, sorry but it's 1:15 am here and I not really awake enough to see the small print. Your drawing of 20/2 shewed 2 pots above that area so you've allowed for 2 rooms. Ian
