Heavy-duty buss bars!!

I agree but I might as well use what I have to hand, waste not want not

Anyway it’s not track it’s ‘ACME modular platform rigidity system complete with optional heavy duty lighting capability’.....patent pending :jester:

Originally it is was the

Bottom Orientated Large Load Overboard Capacity Kilowatt System but ACME decided that was just Boll....

I'm planning on attaching some form of bus bar for the platform lamps. I’m tempted to use some left over track glued to the underside

1) I can glue the track directly to the underside of the platform top

2) Easier to solder to

3) Each Rail is already isolated from each other

4) Will add some much needed extra rigidity

5) Don’t have to buy anything

What a brilliant idea, i wish i'd thought of that last time i tried building a station!

When I worked for ECC, the tech support desk team had a policy of noting on a whiteboard who they had gone to see and where.

I used to work in the I T department. One tech had waited months for me to call so he could legitimately write a rude word on the board.

I’m going to call it a day today and hopefully resume tomorrow

I think I’ll get away with the vertical columns

I’m going to re-lay the track to run parallel with the platform with the platform hard up against the wall. The wall runs out slightly and I would rather the station building be flat up against the wall.

I should be able to sort it as the track is only down with PVA and I’ve had it up before

Anyway enough babbling, here is the Station building mocked up in place

Puts me in mind of the Fiddle Area Retention Tackle Wooden Apparatus. (Fabricated) as utilised on Mutton.

As I suspected I’ve not had chance to do much today

However, all the cross members are in and it’s all flat, level and square

I’ve used a combination of sheet and square tubular sections to make a very strong back piece and rigid cross members

So I could start on the tops

Unfortunately the wall is not flat, or plumb so the building is hard up against the wall on the left but on the right the wall runs out leaving a 2mm gap :fool:

There’s not much I can do about it this evening. I’m really annoyed but I’m going to take a look at it tomorrow with fresh eyes.

On the plus side I’ve managed re-lay the track parallel to the platform

Might be a bit late in the day, but if you put a backboard behind the station for a back-scene then although the backboard would be "out" as the station building is now at least it would be flush against the backboard. Does that make sense?

Yes it makes sense, it may be a bit late for that now, unless I can unscrew the boards from the wall and pull it away from the wall ever so slightly to slide in a card background maybe

If you have to do that, I'd leave well alone and try to forget the gap or what about a drainpipe?

The gap is at the roof and chimney

I’ll look at plastering a bump in the wall, I usually get a lump and bump when I try to plaster

Quell your OCD.   The gap is minscule.   If anything, a layer of colored papers to fill the gap & blend with the building on the wall.

It doesn’t show very well but the gap is about 1.5/2mm but @Stubby47 is right I’m going to carry on as if I was normal and I’m sure I’ll forget about it.

I was probably more concerned about someone on here noticing it to be honest

Maybe next time you go to the optician, get him to lower the prescription a notch in each eye and you'll never see things like that :D

Either that or in a couple of days time we will see some ingenious solution, just don't go all Bernard Cribbins and decide that there wall is gonna have to go.

having a eye for detail can sometimes be a curse. I once fitted some skirting board that was out of square by only 3mm over 2metres and it drove me nuts
