What lack of detail? It looks great to me! You do great work!

I used the term ‘lack of detail‘ In case someone noticed I’ve not bothered to paint the lever number plates

Or put the correct numbers on them!

You know, it's not so many years ago that a lever frame would have been represented with a row of pins in a piece of black painted card and the signalman a repainted Airfix soldier!

I wasn’t too keen on the instrument shelf/support in the Lcut kit, it seemed a bit too bulky for such a small space

So I attempted to scratch build one out of styrene sections

Perhaps still too big but certainly not as bulky as the one in the kit

I've purposely put the instruments to the right so there is a less obstructed view of Simon through the left window as this is the angle the signal box will be viewed

Looking good, Chris. If anything I would say that shelf looks very thick edge-on and through the window. Any chance of trying one that's thinner? Sorry.

That to me Chris looks much better. Sorry to have put you to so much trouble but I hope you think it's been worth it.

No need to apologise, I thought it was a bit on the heavy side myself

I've also had to cut down the bell as it’s base was deeper than the new shelf (something I’d not considered)

Perhaps a small stool would suffice. I doubt he would be in there very long at a time as I assume there would be plenty of time between trains would he would be occupied elsewhere unless it was cold and he just had to be in the box!

I’ve got some dining chairs somewhere

I never thought about a simple stool, I should be able to knock one up quite easily if I can find the chairs I’ve got

Thank you

Your work, and that of many more posters on here like Al etc make mere mortals like me feel inadequate.

I do agree regarding Chris's work, Andy. The attention to detail and finesse is something else........but you do yourself a disservice.

Cheers Rob, But I can do Planning, Fields, Fencing, Ponds, but I can't do Buildings, or interiors, the last Ratio Signal Box kit I made up, I even put the sash windows in up side down, then the roof wouldn't fit cos it wernt square. So I take my hat off to people who can do detail such as on here.

ALSO, I cant seem to get that quiet backwater look and feel that you and Al achieve all the time, simply stunning mate.

Still think you play down your talents, Andy. You always produce a model that rewards time spent taking in the view.

I cannot acheive the level of detail that Chris documents here. As for the quiet backwater look.....it doesn't start out like that......and at least you plan. I tend to throw things at the baseboard and see what happens............

Don’t sell yourself short, your hand painted back scenes are masterpieces and your scenery is superb

edit:

I forgot to mention your photography skills, my models only look good because my photos are fuzzy
