The reprint of my Loriot L arrived this afternoon, it’s been cleaned and given a quick coat of filler primer as I find the yellow helps to highlight areas that need addressing

The central post idea appears to have worked quite nicely

I think I may have gone overboard with details you can hardly see though

Not a bad starter for ten

Chris - brilliant.  I'd love one of these wagons, do you think Shapeways will be flogging them to the public.

Thank you

As with the AA6 Brake van body, once I’ve put one together and made sure everything is as it should be I will adding it to my Shapeways shop for anyone to purchase

Had a bit of a play this morning

Cleared out the holes and added some 0.4mm styrene rod

Checked the fitting of the bushes

And test fitted the wheels

One the first version the brake pads were too close and slightly off center, I’ve addressed this and there is now more clearance

This is going to be one of my usual ‘takes far too long’ builds so you’ll have to bear with me

That's just inspired mate. Clever thinking.

(Actually, it would be expired, wouldn't it...)

Thanks guys, I try my best.

Fingers crossed I’ll be able to finish the brake van soon (I just want to get the thing finished) just waiting on some additional transfers from Raltec

Once my dummy screw couplings arrive I’ll be able to do a bit more on the Loriot too, with those fitted I’ll be able to give it another coat of primer and start painting

Due to the lockdown all the suppliers I use appear to be suffering with a large back log of orders so things are taking a little longer to arrive unfortunately

Looking at photos it appears that the rivets on the Loriot are only on the ends from where the curve starts, it also looks like there are a couple of tie down lugs

So I’ve attempted to replicate this

Good enough for OO gauge

Take a closer look t the pic, Chris. The rivets are there masked underneath the 42272 number.

The "slot in" axleboxes are a genius solution to fitting the wheels! Cracking looking model you've created there.

You’re quite right, I purposely left the area clear of rivets for the transfers

I’ve never had much luck putting transfers over rivets (even when using microset and microsol) so I’ve cheated and left a clear area for the number as a compromise. Hopefully once painted and weathered it will be less obvious....maybe?

I had that same revelation during the night (not in a dream lol). I detest having to try and fix transfers over details parts. I'm sure once it is all painted up and transferred, it won't be visible. Another neat solution. :)

AA6 Brake van update

The additional transfers have arrived today from @railtec-models and as always they have exceeded all expectations

They are that crisp and clear that they make the HMRS transfers look like I’ve hand painted them on with a wire brush blindfolded whilst jumping up and down on one leg!

It’s affected my OCD to the extent of removing the HMRS transfers I had applied and what I’ve got left will be ceremonially burned....or put on eBay

Luckily I have a plan and it’s in hand.....watch this space

I am not affiliated with @railtec-models just a satisfied customer

I do know a guy who says that he won't start a project until he has all the missing parts. He is in his seventies, owns over 250 motorcycles and in the thirty odd years that I have known him, I have never once seen him riding one.

As you were, Private.

Is it a plan so cunning that you could stick a tail on it and call it a fox?

Is it as cunning as a fox that used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning......but doesn’t involve ‘Fox’ ;)
