It is acrylic but it’s Humbrol spray so it still smells a bit

It’s just a base colour, I’ll be adding texture at a later date

As far as the bridge I hope so

I sort of thought you would, you being you and knowing the quality of your finished item, but always good to be re assured mate.:good:

Would there be some sort of inset corner stone for the joints between the walls and the portal?

To be honest I’ve absolutely no idea, I’m just building it up as per the kit instructions

Polystyrene ‘hill’ and the road assembly has been glued down, I’m going to leave the weights on overnight although after a couple of hours it seems to have taken hold (I’ll wait till the PVA goes clear)

Finished building the bridge and I’ve given it an all over coat of ‘dark rust’ as a base coat

Tomorrow evening I’m hoping to get the grey on the coping stones and fingers crossed I’ll have it weathered and in place before the weekend

I alway feel happier when it looks like I’ve done something

Would I get away with one of these :-   164709DB-3B02-4EBD-ACE7-470255C87C2B.jpeg.d0b3cf6f04827bab577e7b551ba4075f.jpeg for the road over the canal or do road over canal bridges have to be humpback?

Admitedly it is humpbacked, but it isn't too disimilar to this bridge: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.3015884,-2.0728811,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sAF1QipMu7hh3839uKDgM9QGew6bPzfW_4JO7xj4liqv1!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipMu7hh3839uKDgM9QGew6bPzfW_4JO7xj4liqv1%3Dw203-h152-k-no!7i4032!8i3024

Weights are off now and the road is stuck very well

I’m definitely having a dry stone wall on the outside edge of the road but I’m undecided whether or not to have walling on the inside edge too, I would like too but I’m not sure if that would be too much....answers on a postcard

This evening I’ll be finishing the painting of the bridge so I can weather it tomorrow

I suspect that the inside of the curve being the edge of the goods yard would be railway property and have post and wire fencing with a bit of picket fence either side of the goods yard entrance gate.

I was afraid someone would say that, I didn’t ready want to do post and wire, especially on a curve, I could possibly live with a picket fence or hedge though

If you use the 'Scale Model Scenery' post and wire fencing with some 0.2mm Jewellery wire, it's actually not all that bad! https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/lx058-72-laser-cut-4ft-wooden-fence-posts-172-1382-p.asp

I have used their post and wire fence at the other end of the layout and it is very good stuff....

I may have to go against what is right and go for what I’d like instead

Anyway I’ll worry about that when I get to it, in the meantime I’ve painted up the bridge.....

.....and started to put plaster on the hill behind road (not photo worthy yet )

Good Idea, as though the road was doubtless there long before the railway. Walled either side against weather and as land boundaries, the railway breaks through it with bridge and gateway, as does the canal further along the road. Makes sense and it's the perfect excuse for post and wire avoidance.;)

That certainly gives me an excuse to do it how I wanted but in reality I would have imagined the canal was first the, followed by the railway, followed by the road

Even so, it still gives you an excuse for a stone wall dating back to around 1790. If anyone has any questions, just mumble something about the enclosures act, they'll get bored and go back to being impressed with the point rodding.

Done a bit more filling, looks a bit rough at the moment but I’m nowhere near done yet

Whilst that layer is drying I’ve had a play with the rear bridge wall

Shouldn’t I really be asking Rob AKA @NHY 581 about ‘flocking’ ;)
