Hi Rob

Hope you didn’t think I was trying to tell you something you already knew

I have no experience with Zen or Zimo so I was just guessing at a reason for an abrupt stop/start

Chris

Morning Chris.

Gosh no, not at all.  If I could work it out, I would be happy to use Zen decoders. They have a number of really good features.

I did ring DCC Concepts to order something and took the opportunity to raise the question.

The chap I spoke to initially  was very helpful. He referred me to a techy chap who unfortunately was less so. I explained I was new to DCC and could do with some help.

He asked about CV3 and 4. I confirmed I had looked into this, explaining the issue and what I had done. He seemed to lose interest then and referred me to their website where they have various guides apparently and that was that.

I looked at the guides and altered various other CVs based on this but it made no difference.

That confirmed my move away from using their decoders.

Rob.

For my 08's, (a small shunter) I usually set CV's 3 and 4 to anything between 15 and 25, for a long slow start and even longer stopping time. and the Top Speed to 25 as well.

I hope this is of some help Chris.

Oh, and for DCC, you only need 2 wires.

2 here, 2 there, 2 more there, another 2 here, those 2 over there, these 2 here...

That's handy to know, I never know where to start when setting CV's.

Finally got around to painting up the twins for the 64xx and also managed to find a shovel and put it the fire man’s hand (gawd knows how I managed that)

I’ve trial fitted the driver and my efforts in reposition his left arm has put his hand near the regulator (luck more than judgement)

Just waiting for them to dry before applying the wash etc

Also got around to painting and throwing on the fire irons etc

Have you not painted them or is that they are below the door and so can't be seen?

Depends on where the loco is viewed from, at eye level they are hidden below/behind the doors
