I would try to find a period shot of one loaded.   Habits will have changed in 80 years, but I couldn't say which way.   Maybe the GWR always loaded just below the edge?  Maybe they loaded like that one 9F driver who took two passes under the coaling stage?

I’ve tried to find a photo but I have been unsuccessful in finding one. I’ll probably end up doing my own thing and finding out it’s wrong afterwards when it’s too late.....that’s what usually happens :(

Now it isn’t 100% accurate (as most of you know such things bother me not)

I need to leave them overnight before applying the varnish

Many thanks to John @cctransuk for the transfers

looking forward to getting the wheels on and adding a bit of muck to disguise the errors

I like the idea of holding it on a stack of magnets, must make it a lot easier to work on...

Yes it makes it much easier especially when spraying or airbrushing because I can move it around in all directions without having to touch it (I’m terrible for touching wet paint)

Prior to this I use to use bluetac on the end of a stick but it wasn’t very reliable, especially when you turn it upside down and gravity overcomes the bluetac

That's all looking rather fine.

Cracking job.

Thanks Al

I’m certainly getting braver and braver especially when it comes to weathering but I’ve got a very long way to go before it’s anywhere near as good as @NHY 581’s weathering

Yep, me too, he's very very good at it, and doesn't even have an airbrush!

I assume you mean when being moved in the real world and not on a layout?

Yes, I meant in the real world.  Given your usual attention to detail, I'd have thought that you'd want to get something like that right (assuming that the real world would have moved the tools in a tool van of some sort).

I must confess that I was tempted to throw in a ballast shovel and rake

I've not been able to do much of late but one thing I have been playing around with is this

2126276911_LoriotL3D.JPG.084388296e80d0974962b0663b2e907e.JPG

Just playing around at the moment, I'm not too serious about getting it finished let alone 3D printed

I just liked the idea of having rolling stock that isn't available RTR and no longer available in kit form

Plus its a Loriot and I'm worth it

Looks interesting, Chris. Farmer Jones could be having one of those new-fangled tractor thingies delivered to Warren.

Now there's a thought!

It's not going to be 100% accurate but its the best I can do using photos off the internet and knowing a few given dimensions

25' 6" wheel centres

33' 6" over the headstock

36'7" over the buffers

15' Well

Are you working from a specific diagram?

Diagram G13 - I don't have any drawings, just information I've taken from the net

And from using photos like this:-

I've done a bit more 3D modelling this weekend, haven't had the chance to do any proper modelling

I've had to use a little modellers license in places to get around the limitations of 3D printing

I’ve designed it to take Alan Gibson 10.5mm wheels and bearings and Bachmann cranked couplings

Just got to add the rivets, DC brake levers etc and it’s potentially ready to get 3D printed.....maybe (not decided yet)

Nice work Chris, always impressed with computer modelling and such magic.

After seeing your WW2 flats I looked into something similar that would suit the region and time period I’m modelling and found no Loriot L machinery wagons available in OO gauge in either RTR or kit form so I thought I’d draw my own

That would look good in O Gauge mate, :o  just sayin, haha.:nono:

I can’t see why not, I imagine you would just scale it up 1.5833? Obviously the wheel bearing sizing would have to be checked etc

You can get an O gauge kit for a Loriot M

My 3D printed AA6 body arrived today from Tim @cwrailways

After stripping down the Oxford Rail toad I had to perform a little surgery on the chassis

I’ve designed the body to accept the weight

And also to accept the screws

It looks quite good

I've given it a coat of primer so it’s drying at the moment
