Thanks Jonathan They are Wills stuff, at the moment I think I have enough packs but that may change depending on how much of it I end up making a mess of Chris
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 3, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 3, 2019 Done a little more this evening. A little weathering to the front and I’ve also attached the hinge bases. I’ve used glue n glaze for the hinges as it give me a lot of time for adjustment Unfortunately I can’t do anything else at the moment as glue n glaze takes a while to set I’ve just placed the box on the front to see what it would look like I like the green but I may change the colour of the box to dark stone as I’ve managed to get a good(ish) match to the Gaugemaster lamp colour by mixing Vallejo Air Tan (71.079) and Mahogany (71.036) at a Ratio of 10:2 I’m still experimenting with the mix so I may need to try add a spot of red The lamp and box won’t be close enough to each other to be that noticeable though If it works out I might paint the gutters/downpipes in the same colour
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 5, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 5, 2019 In an effort to mix paint to match the Gaugemaster GWR stone colour I’ve come up with the following Vallejo Model Air 20 drops Tan (71.079) 4 drops Mahogany (71.036) 1 drop White (71.001) 1 drop Red (71.269) Personally this is close enough for my needs, however, the ratio stated above is to match the Gaugemaster lighting I have in my hand, I have no idea how close this is to actual GWR dark stone nor do I have a clue if the Gaugemaster colour used is consistent throughout their GWR lighting range

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 6, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) I’ve painted one of the notice boards and stuck on a ‘notice’ I’ve printed off its only placed on (hence why it’s not on straight) I'm not sure if I like it or not though, thoughts anyone Edited September 6, 2019 by chuffinghell 6

AlfaZagato
I would't worry about the notice being straight. Nobody's perfect. Not you, and not the dude who posted the notice. 2

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 7, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) In the end I decided I liked it so it’s now glued in place, hopefully I’ll get more done this weekend I felt I’d weathered the box a little too heavy so I managed to remove some of the weathering powder with a damp cotton bud before sealing with Matt varnish Edited September 7, 2019 by chuffinghell Spelling correction 4

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 7, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 7, 2019 I’m getting there now, I should have it finished this side of Christmas I know I won’t win any prizes for speed building but I’d rather take my time and try and get it right

A similar outside lamp over the door would probably look right as well. It’s still a bit too clean considering it’s location I had also considered putting one on the side but I think it would be too much 3

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 9, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 9, 2019 (edited) That’s as dirty as I dare go with the lamp, I realise in reality it would be practically black but if anyone asks a heavy rain fall has washed it off Edited September 9, 2019 by chuffinghell

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 11, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 11, 2019 (edited) I’ve made a few impulsive and premature purchases They’ll come in handy when the goods yard appears I’ll need to change the number plates on the mechanical horses though otherwise the police and DVLA will be on my back for cloning number plates I’m considering converting one of the mechanical horses into a flat bed version for a bit of variety Not sure about the Thorncroft dropside, I’ll just have to see how it looks in the goods yard.....when there is one Edited September 11, 2019 by chuffinghell
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted September 13, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) I’ve attempted to look at the platform ramp on the removable section. The reason for this is because my plan has always been for the removable section to be a diorama in its own right.....and something to practice weathering, ballasting and scenery on With this in mind I need to sort the platform so I can do the point rodding before doing the ballast etc Anyway started off making a very rough template and making this up using peco platform edging and plasticard I've intentionally left a 0.5 rebate to take the embossed paving unfortunately I’ve not got the radius quite right So I’ll have to try again The reason it is set back from the wall is because I intend to step it back towards the wall where the station building will sit and have fencing up to the station building Edited September 13, 2019 by chuffinghell
Andrew P
I'm sure that lead in, would be beneficial for longer stock and help clear the overhang on long Stock taking the curve of the Point.
