They have a wrapper...

Which is, of course, why Elephants don't eat them...

I wont be getting any modelling done next week because I’ll be too busy eating pasties and having cream teas in Cornwall and even though I’m not a big drinker I feel it would be rude not to at least sample any traditional Cornish cider that we come across.

I've tried to convince Sarah that it is against the law in Cornwall if you don’t have a pasty everyday but she doesn’t believe me for some reason

But are they as big as they used to be?

This should help.

Just don't ask Stubby where the best pasties are to be had, I did that, he doesn't like them...

Phelps of Hayle, I am led to believe.

Certainly not Ginsters (Cornwall only exports these, they are not for home consumption).  And there are no Greggs in the county.

That sounds like two cast iron reasons for going to Cornwall.

It does leave me with one question however:

What do chavvy mums feed their babies on in the absence of Gregg's sausage rolls?

I believe it is law everywhere to have at least one a week and the closer to Cornwall the more you must consume. Sarah really does not want to be in breach of such a long standing law.

I also know where the best ever pasties are located and baked on a daily basis but thems the secrets we must keep my precious.

Cornwall is jam first, cream on top.

I don't like jam, so have double cream...

I must admit I find it difficult to put jam on top of cream unless it has turned to butter.

Proper Job Cornish Pasties can be found at Hawke Butchers (proper job Cornish name) in Roche (proper job Cornish place away from the Emmets) here:

(At least they used to be good last time I had one.)

Jam first would seem to be the logical order.

I will apply the jam and clotted cream in accordance with Cornish law

You get less sophisticated traditional snacks round here, such as a meat pie in a bread bun.

No, I haven't sampled them.

We have the Staffordshire oatcake of course

Oh, and if you do get to the World of Model Railways in Mevagissy

Oh yes I’ve been many times over ten years ago now :o when my boys were younger, fond memories of dragging them in there in an effort to ‘force’ the hobby onto them

Nice fish n chips in Mevagissy too from what I remember
