Since ordering the etched nameplates my plan to put a door on the gents loo had changed

So I wondered if positioning it here would be acceptable?

so i was looking at this and thinking it just didn’t seem right.. should it maybe be protruding from the wall on a placard/ signage bracket? So those looking down the station can see where they are located and not have to be stood directly in front of the toilets to see the sign? I would guess it should be located to the upper right corner of the building between the door and end wall..

Something similar to this..?

This is top drawer stuff, Chuffers.

I only wish I had your attention to detail.

Very inspiring.

I wanted to use the notice boards that came as part of the Peco Country Station kit

I hoped to use the pre-printed, self adhesive die cut posters I have, however, not wanting to sound like Goldilocks but the OO gauge posters I have are too big and the N gauge posters I have are too small

But the home made ones are just right

Just need to decided how many I need and where to position them, although I have something in mind

I will paint up the boards in appropriate colours first though

This is the kinda thing I had in mind, just placed on for now so I’ve got scope to play with the positions and put it on level

There will be one to the left of the window too (to satisfy my symmetry based OCD)

Don't forget you'll need one with the current timetable on it.

I'm planning on using the wider notice board and putting on the wall to the right of the booking office door

Undecided which one to use though

Hi Chris

What an inspirational thread! I am absolutely amazed at the detail and neatness of your modelling in 4mm scale. And thank you, too, for the blow by blow pictures and descriptions, even of when you decide to go back a couple of steps or re-make something. It has been a great read over several days, and I look forward to seeing how your layout progresses.

Thanks Steve,

Very nice of you to say

Yes I do tend to redo things I’m not happy with (I’m my own worst enemy)

I’m pleased that my progress photos are proving useful and in some cases entertaining

Its not progressing as fast as I would like but a little progress is progress nonetheless

I think many of us railway modellers enjoy the build no matter how long it takes and has been often said, a model railway is never really finished. So just keep plodding on enjoying the satisfaction of a job well done. Once trains get running the build will slow down even more. Ask me how I know!

There were, I understand, quite a few exceptions to the usual rules. It depended on what was available at the time especially at locations far remote from head office. Some stations didn't get painted for years after a company change came in.

That explains why I've found a number of differing images, I don't think the dark stone looks out of place but I've just messed about with paintbrush (I haven't got photoshop) to see what white would look like

I must admit having done one I quite like the white myself

Maybe I should dirty them up a bit as it’s looks a bit too clean next to the window
