We are progressing well on the East Midlands Trains & Provincial Liveried Class 156s. We are awaiting pre production samples from China.

There have been some small modifications to the model to improve a couple of weak points we noticed when sound fitting, the samples will confirm IF these small modifications help making a good model, better!!!

Charlie     PPS PLEASE dont ask 'when' we are posting orders out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The samples as per usual are taking longer than planned, EMT Screens are now ok, the Provincial needs a little tweeking:    Charlie

They seem to take longer to manufacture than I'd have expected, nice to get a glimpse of the manufacturing process! Still trying to hold out until a Central one might be made, but that Birmingham provincial one is so tempting...

The process is:

1/ We find a livery.

2/ We seek permission to use it.

3/ We do the artwork (Has to be sent to the TOC if they require it) Official Pantone colours do not always look correct on a model train. The plastics the train is moulded in effects the outer colour! IE Dark plastic moulding= Darker finish on light & dark colours. OR Light plastic mouldings= Lighter finish on light & dark colours.

4/ Get a model liveried up and check it. Samples to TOC's if required. Correct any printing / production issues.

5/ Place orders for components to be made 12-16weeks or longer.

6/ Find a production slot to get them assembled & painted.

7/ Order packaging and test is it in 'Real World' conditions to see IF the model will get too the customer in one piece.

8/ Get finished samples to check.

9/ Pay the Bill !!!!!

10/ Arrange delivery & Customes stuff.

11/ Wait for them to get into a container (As we do not have enough models to fill one container ourselves)

12/ When container is loaded with various companies stuff, book via a shipping company a boat.

13/ When boat arrives in the UK, this container has to be split down by a 'Forwarding' company, custom duty paid along with all other invoices re the shipping to Leeds.

14/ On arrival in Leeds, check samples for issues.

15/ Sort out orders, wrap them is special postal boxes and post out.

16/ Get some sleep, go to shows, answer the phone, do the Tax Returns, visit the post office, check sound fitted ones, answer the phone to the guy who says 'My mate has got his, when am I getting mine, Answer the e.mail to the guy who ordered a Provincial one but wants it swapping to a EMT one, Sort out the issue of why they run in opposite directions on DCC even though it tells you on the box or in the instructions how to correct this?? .

So in conclusion, its a seamless, no hassle process from start to finish.

We know which liveries we are doing next BUT getting the permission to do them is taking far too long sadly.     Charlie

Sorry Charlie,

Think you have the first couple of steps wrong.....

I’d have thought that process should have started like this....

1. Seek suitable finance to manufacture model

2. Persuade significant other, that it’s worth risking future financial well being to make ‘toy trains’....

3. Re-Mortgage house (for the nth time), wife, family dog and anything else not tied down to cover anticipated costs...

4. Have sleepless nights pondering if you have done the right thing

5. Go to 4

Thanks to yourselves and a small band of others, investing your hard earned cash into producing models that you think and hope are not about to be produced by the bigger boys, we have the situation now of having these additional, superb quality models....

Andy

Both models look excellent, even in just bodyshell form.

With that sort of standard, I,'ll bet they will sell out quite fast ???

We are over 2/3rd sold all ready.  The Next liveries are being planned along with the Class 142.

Looking at the 'Sprinter' picture, will the 'Sprinter' and 'Super Sprinter' final model include the oblong marker lights, positioned at the outer ends of the light cluster as per the prototype original head and tail light arrangement?

Due to cost, this will be a printed feature as per our 144.
