rob D2
I’ve found one , reading in September 92, pretty much spot on. And it had been repainted in RES by 29/12/92 so maybe the powers that be saw the state of it. ill contemplate getting one, would have been easy at £169, bit more arduous as £189

pinzaboy
Here's a pic I took at Newcastle on 26 March 1989. My notes say it was on a Manchester service. Loco adjacent is 47 556 with the 0955 to Poole.
pinzaboy
I've been looking through some other of my pics and these shots of 47 467 on 17 Aug 1998 on 6G85 1047 Workington to Bescot (at Carlisle) show a nice shabby paintwork on a par with the 47 537 Kernow model!

rob D2
^^^^ totally different effect though, that’s faded paintwork, 537 is more missing paint it seems
RMweb Premium SHerr Posted October 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 2, 2023 I’m just wondering if anyone has attempted to remove or tone down the weathering on this model? It’s currently significantly reduced but for circa 86/87 period that I model it would need to be in a lot better nick! I’m not sure if all the fading and marks are ‘over’ a pristine paint job or part of the core decoration? Ive successfully removed the heavy weathering from a Heljan 27 but unsure if these are the same approach. thanks
