I found a few more of the Worth Valley DMU fleet, starting with the (now out-of-service) 108 at Ebor Lane...

And then a couple of unusual 101 views... dropping-down into Keighley...

...and finally, heritage unit in a modern suburban landscape, at Ingrow.

Just browsing through this thread and by coincidence had taken the exact same view during a walk on Tuesday this week. Amazing how much more vegetation there is now!

A pair of GWR Class 158s with 12.18 Taunton to Cardiff Central.

On yet another very dull and wet day in West Yorkshire, Network Rail 950001 was working 2Q08 touring a number of lines.

First Class Sir, I would be very pleased with any of those.  Being able to see through Mossgiel tunnel is just perfect.

I'm not that familiar with the area. Work required me to be there that day, & i had a minute spare to grab a snap of the unit that had brought me down to Bristol from Cheltenham earlier that morning!

It does look better on the track plan! :D

Telephoto foreshortening is working its magic. My pic was taken from Brougham Hayes bridge & the Sprinter's almost a quarter of a mile away.

Off topic, but a good example is the footbridge over the Birmingham-Coventry line at Garretts Green that affords a decent view down runway 15 at Birmingham Airport. Telephoto lens shots turn almost two miles of runway into corrugated cardboard:

Richard

On the assumption that your photo was taken on a Saturday during the current timetable, then no it wasn't on divert.

With the sunsetting in the west over Leeds, it's most likely 1E63, 15.26 Plymouth to York (21.46) which is booked to reverse during its call at Leeds between 21.02 and 21.09 and is then routed to York via Leeds West Junction, Methley Junction and Milford Junction, picking up the usual route to York at Church Fenton.

As it's the only 'class 1' Cross Country working to York booked this way from Leeds I assume it's for crew route knowledge retention purposes in case of a potential divert.

As you may know, there are also daily very early morning/late evening ECS Cross Country workings between Leeds and York to and from Crofton depot that pass Midland Road depot.

A few "in the landscape" scans from prints.  No dates unfortunately, my pre digital photographic record keeping was woefully inadequate!

101 at Chappel viaduct, 142's Cumbrian coast (Arnside?), 150 150 at Hest Bank and  150 227 at Whitlingham Junction.

Here is a DMU in the jungle

that sprung up around Didcot. There is some steelwork on the avoider that is rapidly being consumed by nature though. When they finally come to electrify to Oxford, it will probably have disappeared...

Last time I went to didcot that view was a lot less cluttered.
