ColHut
G'day, I am looking for an idea for a building to go on my platform away from the main station building to disguise a PCB which stick up a bit proud of the platform height and inset, about 4" x 2.5". Waiting rooms and main station building are already taken. The building will be partly set back into a cutting leaving a clear 9' from the platform edge. I seem to be a bit stumped for what would be a moderate sized building 25' x 18' or so. Any ideas? My usual inspriation from looking at pictures of real stations seems to have failed. regards
Londontram
What period do you model?
ColHut
The station is LNER 1930s, probably an ex-GNR station. regards
allan downes
How about something like this - a small platform mounted goods depot but set back further.

Nearholmer
Absolutely stunning, but it's a bit big for a nine foot wide platform, isn't it? How about a standalone, as one tries to, toilet block? Or, a shed in which to sort newspapers, which some stations had. Bicycle shed? First aid practice hut - I know of a couple of stations that had them. Passengers luggage in advance store - good one for holiday stations. Staff mess hut. Relay room associated with signalling. A lot depends on the nature and date of the station. Edited July 21, 2018 by Nearholmer
allan downes
Maybe either of the small buildings to the front might be more suited to the space you have available but made to suit something more appropriate ?
ColHut
Thanks all, Love the Cathedral. . It would certainly increase passenger numbers. Standalone toilet block? possble Passenger luggage in advance store - well it s a station by the sea/inlet so possibly. Goods shed is already taken but Perhaps a separate parcels store? Allan - as a matter of interest what is the right hand building? regads all

MY PICTURES 142.JPG Not quite sure myself it was just built to fill a space with no specific reason or purpose for being there as you do!
Nearholmer
I think you can worry too much about this. Real stations used to abound in little buildings of half-forgotten original purpose that the got used as porter’s hidey holes, shunter’s lobbies etc.
