status96
Hello Joined just recently and thought this is the best place for information. I have bought a model of an austerity locomotive which was sent to Kowloon, China, and wondered if there was anyone out there who has any information on rolling stock it can pull? I'm am an easy target for building something different !!! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
doctor quinn
There's a history of the line on the webaite of the Industrial History of Hong Kong Group https://industrialhistoryhk.org/index/ which would be starting point. One of the pics on the site show a derailed freight train, the wagons in shot seem to be wooden bogie vans so Bachmann's Chinese range may be a start. The only other inmage of a freight that I noticed was American style flat cars carrying Centurion tanks The KCR operated Australian bulit GM G12 locos from 1955 https://www.checkerboardhill.com/2010/12/ex-kcr-diesel-locomotives/ which would offer another RTR loco (http://www.frateschi.com.br/web/loco-g12-g8/?lang=en), the other steamers on the IHHKG site look like an extensive kitbash! Hope it gets off the ground - I also love something a little out of the ordinary. All the best Nick p.s - Just noticed these sites http://www.chinesemodeltrains.com/tripreport_2016trip.html https://gwulo.com/atom/19595

All Chinese models (and there are a lot of them!) are HO 3.5mm to the foot. On the other hand most available China Rail models are reasonably modern (last 30 years) and many probably wouldn't suit that loco anyway. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ellocoloco
Is it the Roco HO S160 2-8-0 or the Bachmann OO WD Riddles 2-8-0?
mjenderby
It'll be the Riddles one. I seem to remember seeing some gondola wagons designed to match the loco recently but suspect these would be generic and reliveried rather than authentic. As mentioned before, there are some modern KCR locos but in HO … but no stock to match … however some Chinese stock finds its way across the border but again, the scale mismatch is a problem :-( In any case I would have thought the Austerities were gone before the Chinese ran trains over the border. The loco is effectively just a collectors item. Cheers Mark
ellocoloco
I bought the Roco KCRC 460 many years ago with similar intentions - at this point I don't the Bachmann DF11 had been released. I did add two DF11s once they came out - the first two releases. Maybe one day I'll build something....................
