I'll try again, :O  I just did this post and the interwhatsit went down and so I lost the lot. :scared:  :scared:  :scared:

Steve, sb67,  in Post 315, asked to see how I lay the Sector plate, so here goes, AGAIN.

Firstly I fitted a back stop.

Next I marked a centre line for centre track and fitted that.

Then I fitted the main board track to the sector track

post-9335-0-23389200-1536586533_thumb.jpg

Next I swung the sector out and laid the next main track at 4 inch centre line.

I can now fit the back sector track aligning with the main board track

post-9335-0-63811700-1536586710_thumb.jpg

Swing the sector back, and fit the front sector track

post-9335-0-84226800-1536586861_thumb.jpg

Swing forward, and lay the last board track

post-9335-0-49380700-1536587000_thumb.jpg

Then FULLY TEST.

post-9335-0-25467500-1536587053_thumb.jpg

Then do a Loco lift test.

Looking nice Andy, a good 'how-to' for a sector plate.

Keep going like this, you'll have it operational, scenified and finished for Saturday evening .. any plans for Sunday?  :jester:

I will admit to liking Copydex for gluing down track onto cork, the cork being glued to the plywood with exterior grade white wood glue.  No pins or screws used at all but a whole lot of wine, olive oil and paint containers used to weight down the track while the Copydex sets.  If I need to lift the track it comes away unharmed using a thin flexible tool like that used for filling holes in walls, etc.

What are your plans for that Lima Class 33? A scrapyard diorama?

Hi Andrew, The 33 is having an almost full restoration.

It already has the Sound fitted, SWD, and I have flush glazing, full cab interiors, white metal Bogie side frames, sprung buffers and all the pipework to go on. The only thing I wont do is change the grills, but once weathered it should  look pretty good.

Thanks for that 'how to' Andy, I never measured any center line at all and made my tracks a bit too close together, I've learnt for next time. If you dont mind I'll save the pics as a bit of reference.

Steve.

Glad it was, and will be of a help in the future mate.

Andy

A great primer in sector plate design.  I think Dolgelley fiddle yard will have one, perhaps four tracks, certainly three.

Thanks, Paul

I've used them on St Budoc as a single track, as can be seen through the arch on the left, in front of the Scenic area.

And here as a 3 road one on Trebudoc.

Andy, shame you're going all dieselfied.

Look what rocked up to my door over the weekend.

And here it is compared in size with a Dapol Jinty.

It now sounds as good as it looks.

Best regards,

Paul

I still have the Dapol  Jinty, Pannier, and Minerva Pannier Paul, plus the Black 08, so I can run as Steam only as I have about 30 Steam period wagons so a 60's Freight only Branch is still possible.

Just had a message to say that a rather large parcel will be arriving between 12.37 and 13.37 :sungum:

I should contain my Class 40, a Railfreight Van I bought at Telford, :sungum:  :sungum:  and some other bits that will be revealed later.

Not sure if I want to see an old man's bits even if they are revealed later.
