Excellent video Andy.

I can believe engineer sleeping in a loco. On nights I could catnap sitting on a fishing stool in a manhole. With a pump running  to keep the water out.  Anyone climbing down would wake me up as would the pump stopping. :D.

Must be the 'gentle' rocking motion.

The sound levels you are achieving is impressive. I have no experience of DCC or sound. I did look at going digital but converting what i have (including) in the build queue would cost the same as buying another 5-6 loco/DMU kits - so i decided to remain in the downward spiral of increasing the fleet and increasing the eventual cost of conversion!

I am in the same boat as you but I keep thinking that the sound in modern diesels is so impressive it might be worth converting a handful and running them separately to my main fleet.

Black Notley is already DCC compatible through the way it was wired and points are all DC controlled anyway.

You can't beat the sound of a 40 or 37 or Deltic.

Still thinking about it!

I have tried DCC Point control, and although easy, it just wasn't for me, I prefer the a proper switch and see the Point move under old fashioned DC control. I even have wire in tube levers on Bench Road to cut down on wiring etc.

It really is only the sound that is attractive for me. I don't do bulbs and other technological stuff like point motors etc... With O Gauge beyond a loco depot, multiple movements of trains all at the same time is beyond the whit or space i have to hand.

Just a gentle reminder that Black Beauty is for sale, I have removed the Sound and Crew, and it is lightly weathered. £160 plus £10 postage.

Cheers George, That's worth knowing, I have swapped over the Sound Chips now, so it would mean another Chip, but still well worth knowing for another day.

A little run over to Eastleigh this lunchtime as I was expecting the new Sector Livery 66 to come out. It didn't but I saw loads of other stuff, and the expected one turned out to be a nice looking GBRF 59, No 59003.

And running with NO lights on.

The Yard looked busy with loads ready for the weekend Engineering work, and another Rake came in later behind an 08.

The shots are a bit blurred as they were taken through the Footbridge glass that was dirty and wet as it was raining.

And finally, I'm not into Units much, so I don't know how new this is, it came from the North on the Fast line, then around into and through Platform 3 without stopping and went off in the Portsmouth direction even though the destination blind said Weymouth.

That’s the slippery slope now. Not just passenger trains but ones needing juice rails too. When will SMS become ‘net zero’?!

It already is, both the Rails are electric, who needs a 3rd Rail?

Great pics and memories Ian, but maybe NOT of the Car Crash. Thanks.
