Tom, the above scenes are exquisite, just sublime. What a beautiful evocation of a lovely place.

Cheers Tim! It's taken time, but we got there!

Very atmospheric; i think you have captured the area very well only thing missing is the rain.

Many Thanks!

You could always stand there with a plant mister, and spray water on the faces of visitors...

OK, I'll get me coat, if only to stave off the rain.

Ha, you laugh but.....

No, don't worry, operators wont be sprayed!

However, I will be buying a smoke machine to be able to depict that typical, misty atmosphere that often surrounds the Welsh mountain tops, only photographs mind, not operating sessions

For operating sessions fogged up safety goggles should do the trick.

Hi Hawin,

For awhile I have enjoyed your pictures, especially as this shows that "less is more". I do like your back scene. Is it all one colour where the thick clouds shown with the use of spot lights. Would you mind sharing how you achieved this

Regards

For miles there is only the lonely windswept welsh moor and mountain. The sound of the wind gives way..... to the snorting, and clanking of 4645.

The summit is reached, the fireman can rest.

I will never tire of images your layout, Tom.  The "story" behind each one just brings it all to life.

Thanks Chris

Actually, this isn’t the final back scene. It’s just a basic white wash.

The real backscene is to be painted by my friend John and will depict some proper dark Welsh skies and the two mountains of Arenig Fach and Arenig Fawr. This rough image gives you an idea of how the outline will look.

Arenig Fawr dominates the scene more, and is viable in all photos of the station.

while Arenig Fach contrasts opposite Fawr with its more purple brown covered top.

Splendid stuff, Tom.

Looking forward to seeing the backscene in place, but the thing that I'd like to say is how impressive it is that every stage you can look at one detail on 1 sq.inch of the footprint of these photos and think:

1) Isn't that nice?

and at the same time

2) Doesn't it fit in well with all of its surroundings?

The successive waves of refinement seem to have floated all the boats equally!

Also, the permanent way looks fabulous.

This beauty of an image has just appeared in a Facebook group. It's one I've not seen before!

4645 (my favourite of the 8750s) preparing to leave Blaenau. Interesting the addition of the Brake Van. The Presflos as fitted wagons didn't need a guards van when in use with a passenger train, so I do think this is more than a 'van movement' back to Bala.
