And also here are the early experiments of 3D printed fence panels....looks promising!

Each panel measures a scale 8’ long x 5’ high, the post has a spigot for planting into the ground, and there is a tab on the other end that engages in a sit in the post of the next panel. They’re available on my website www.monksgate.co.uk and also at www.Intentio.co.uk.

Have you tried painting these? I created and printed some of my own fence panels last summer. With the first batch I initially only painted them on one side which caused them to warp. They were a total loss. On further batches I painted both sides at the same time with no warping. If yours do the same it might be worth giving your customers a heads up and advising the to paint both sides at the same time.

Modest progress on Truro, laser cut brick wall overlays and started to stick them on.

Thank goodness for Poundland!

You are a P4 modeller and I claim my £5!!

Alas no - 00. But perhaps with a P4 mindset, if such a thing means an eye for detail and authenticity to the prototype.

You're using a 3-bolt chair in a Great Western context? Is that allowed?

I also have a Midland mile post and boundary marker I could use. But that would be sacrilege...

Why let the facts get in the way of (an attempt at) a joke?!!

The joke was fully appreciated. I just wouldn't want anyone to run away with the idea that I claim such exalted status.

Here’s an interesting one: a load of cotton bales for a long open GE wagon. I didn’t have the actual wagon that this load was going in to, so the customer gave me accurate internal sizes from which I made a ‘mould’ out of plywood. The bales themselves are each made from a central core of a block of wood, covered with foam and very fine cotton. There are two company’s bales on board so I engraved rubber stamps on the laser, plus a series of numbers so that each bale is uniquely numbered. Fortunately they fit the wagon very well - the customer sent me the photo of them looking very snug!F4F581FC-65C1-4D30-8BF0-48ED18627D46.jpeg.7de26a70b3354c707b80fa5fe325b872.jpegE7F3BAD4-4FC9-4215-B1E6-F056482A563B.jpeg.7098dc28994b9049b69a243a62a4154f.jpeg53191409-1A81-45DC-A075-D14CE93F05ED.jpeg.64bad1237a902267ace6c2d1797acc37.jpeg

Beautiful.

But...

... did your customer also ask for a couple of GER wagon sheets (it's a long wagon)?

Or maybe it's intended as a static model for a goods yard scene with a dray alongside ready to unload onto.

I knew you’d ask! He has provided sheets for another project. Not sure what the intention is with this.

An update on Truro: I’ve laser cut thick paper edging stones, paving slabs and brick pavers. Before hand I drew the outlines of the building, canopy centrelines and footbridge. Now I’ve covered them up!!

Various bits and bibs that will go together to make the Truro island building. Laser cut mdf walls, laser cut thick paper and mountboard windows and doors, 0.8mm ply  brick courses that will go around the base of the walls.

Here’s an experiment - making GE sacks. I’ve laser engraved rubber stamps to stamp black and red. I now have to work out how to make them look ‘sack-like’... we shall see...!

Before I come back to the sacks, today I finished these: wicker steamer trunks destined for a 5” gauge model van. Originally I thought I would weave them using real rattan but I very quickly realised that whilst the method would produce an extremely realistic result, it would also have taken an age. So in the end, I bought some fine weave hessian and covered wood blocks. Strap, buckle and handle details complete them, along with owner’s markings on the lids.
