Fast approaching this month is the 17th annual Lydney Model Railway show on the Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th September 2018, run by the Forest of Dean Model Railway club. This years show features over 20 layouts from N gauge up to live steam garden railways! There will be trade support in the form of 6 traders, who between them can supply new model railway locomotives, rolling stock and accessories (Derails Models), specialist scenery items (Penduke Models), second hand model railways (Clive Reid), laser-cut buildings (DK Laser Buildings), tools and accessories (Amberly Services) and railway books (Lightmoor Press). The show is being held, as usual, at the Dean Academy (formerly Whitecross School), Church Road, Lydney, Gloucestershire, GL15 5DZ. We open 11am - 5pm on the 29th, and 10am - 4pm on the 30th, there is ample parking at the school and catering provided by The Dean Forest Railway. There is disabled access to all parts of the exhibition. Prices are: Adults: £5.00, Children under 5: free, Children under 16: £2.00 and Family (2+3): £10.00. Why not combine it with a trip on the local Dean Forest Railway who are also running steam trains on their 4 1/2 mile section of heritage line and make a complete day of it? Shaping up to be a good show, a couple of layouts that haven't really seen the light of day are coming out too (including a 38 foot P4 layout that looks lovely). We all enjoyed the show very much. A really friendly show and a good venue. It was also good to meet some of the RMwebbers who took time out to come and see the layout. Thanks for the pictures on the Blowers Green thread RobD2, don't waiver buy that 08. Finally, we look forward to exhibiting at the show in 2020 if you will have us back. It was the first show organised by Simon and I with help from the club, and apart from the odd hiccup (expected for a couple of novices...) it went really well. Special thanks to the Blowers Green guys who were opposite our stand for giving me plenty to watch when it went a little quiet! I'm still trying to sell RobD2 that Dapol 08, don't worry! The show is booked for the same weekend next year (28th & 29th September 2019) on the same times at the same place, so we hope to see you all then! Cheers!
