Looking good Baz. Even better seeing some of your coaching stock on the tracks.

Yes nice for them to see the light of day.. once the layout is complete should be able to dig some more stock out of my storage trays (compartmentalised plastic bread trays)

Watxh this space!!

And a bit more visible progress.. Well it is if you spot the white sleeper ends

The yard now has..  electro magnets fitted.

The magnets use sprung toggle switched (on the "pink" lines.

The one on its own is a  dead end on off switch for the yard head shunt.

Better view of the white sleeper ends.

In other news all platforms in place just need some weathering then some station running in boards. Lamps and benches.. more on this soon!

Great visit today from Red Leader who has completed the diesel depot track laying among other work. He has taken a few photos which will, I hope, be seen on here soon.

Thanks for the hard graft Graham @LNER4479.

4602 looks good, you don't often see the high sided tenders modelled.

Yes, another jolly day in BarryO's model railway room.

Shock! Horror! Diseasels!!

We did nonetheless identify this corner, alongside the approach tracks of the main station, as a potential site for diesel stabling sidings, maybe even a small depot? The sort of thing the ER was rather better at doing than the LMR (the latter all too often trying to adapt existing steam facilities rather than purpose building something new)

Anyhow, here is the result of a day reaching over, drilling square holes etc. Room for up to ten of the things, more if shunting locos are let loose. I'm sure it'll be bulging at the seams before long🤨

Whilst I had the camera out, went for a roam round the rest of the layout. Goods sidings full of trains. The NCB exchange sidings and colliery branch (RHS) is the next (last?) task.

PXL_20240409_164104490.jpg.eeda9e9b78979ee038eaa4e1ba1b662f.jpg

Loco depot full of proper engines. Some of them even moved when threatened with a controller.

PXL_20240409_164312706.jpg.1663aa7db041a85bf78afe8e2a984d06.jpg

And the main station, now looking rather good with platforms.

PXL_20240409_164703774.jpg.1c254db72d6c36d7dc6011baf85a1df9.jpg

And looking the other way, towards the goods depot.

A very pleasant day; thanks to my host for supplies of tea, bacon sandwiches and evening meal prior to my departure 🤗

And , unlike @St Enodoc @LNER4479didn't break the layout..

I now need yo do more wire strangling  to get the diesel depot on line.

Oi! I resemble that remark!

I was testing, guv'nor - and there's no point testing if you don't wheedle out the bits that don't work...

Almost precisely what an HMRI Inspector said to me once many moons ago when they inspected New Works. History records he couldn't break it as we got the necessary letter permitting trains to run 👍
