Hello all,

Happened to be in Leamington last week and in the space of an hour around lunchtime saw three car trains passing through. The first two were only the covered IPAs, the last one an interesting mix of twin flats (loaded with Discoveries), 2 x covered IPAs 4-car sets similarly loaded and at the rear 3 x WIA 5-car sets. A colleague with me said they'd have the Jaguar F-types in them!

Cheers

Ben A.

Hello all,

CADs for the IPAs are coming along. Those for the plain flat twins, and the twins with side stakes, are now done.

The CADs for the covered types need a small amount of revision, but should be completed within the next fortnight.

Cheers

Hi Richard,

As with all our models, they'll only go ahead if enough people pre-order.  Though we haven't yet opened the order book as we don't want them to compete with the Sturgeons and HOAs which are available to order now.

I anticipate that we will open the order book in the next 6-8 weeks and hope to get first samples by TINGS (The International N Gauge Show at Leamington in September.)

cheers

Hello all,

The order book for the N-gauge IPA car carriers twins has opened.  They are available in both STVA liveries and we are offering two different numbers for each type, flat, with stakes or covered.

Twin sets: http://www.revolutiontrains.com/product/ipa-car-carriers-twin-wagon-sets/

In the mid-2000s lots of the twins were given side screens and roofs and remarshalled into permanently coupled sets of four (though they retained the buffers at the inner coupling between the two sets) and we are offering these too:

Note that the quad sets offer prototypically correct variations in the postition of the parking brake wheel between the initial and later conversions.

The twins are being offered at an early-bird price of £37; in a short period this will increase to £39, while the quads are being offered at an early-bird price of £74, increasing to £78.

cheers

Ben A.

So, are there any automotive flows on the southern portion of the WCML (post 2000)?.... and if so, would the vehicles be Jaguar-Landrover?.... trying to figure out what Oxford diecast vehicles to load the IPAs with.

.... or am I going to just have to use a bit of ‘artistic license’....?!

What is the typical motive power/operator?.... would be great if it were Cl 92, since I already have these on order.

I have tried a bit of Googling, but in this instance, you kinda need to know the answer before you can pose the question!

Thanks all!

Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are exported via Southampton docks and arrive on the single deck STVA wagons behind an EWS/ DB 66. Not sure whether it hits the WCML

GBRf have a contract with Ford, which can see a 92 on the front and I believe is routed via the WCML

Some interesting driver's videos on Youtube by Don Coffey who appears to be a driver on TPE. This is a video on a Class 68 training run and he is just about to go past a train of IPAs on his right. All red flats with and without stakes but without covers. Pulled by a GBRf 92 and with an 08 shunter at the back. This is at Speke near Freightliner at Garston near Liverpool.

Hi,

Ben A stated on the N Gauge Forum on 02/04/19:

In terms of what to run with what, I am aiming to produce our usual consist diagram to show how they operate asap.

I spend far more time than I should looking at the video postings (including US Railroad manifests to try and learn those too!) and, as with Dave's post above, there's plenty tucked away in general freight YouTubes.

Regards, Gerry.

Yes, loads.

If you look at Andy Jupe's excellent pictures here you'll see lots of covered quad sets with Land Rovers and Range Rovers (they look like Freelanders and Evoques in the main), at Rugby, with 92 or 66 haulage. One shows a 90 DIT behind a 92.

Here's a 92 at Northampton, from Revolution's promo material:

Original grey ones just in my time frame, twin pack of each ordered.  I know Oxford do Landrovers, but thinking a selection of these 1:160 Busch European Emergency Service LWB Landrovers would make a good load;

When these wagons worked through the tunnel to Italy, as part of trains carrying old-style Minis and Rover saloons on double-deckers, Land-Rover had a big contract with the Italian government to supply vehicles (mainly Defenders). These were delivered already lettered for the various branches of the state, so we would get 'Polizia', 'Vigile de Fuoco', 'Guardia Finanzia', 'Dogna', 'Guardia d' Costiere' alongside unlettered olive green or Navy Blue ones , Range Rovers and Discoveries.

Going to get seriously expensive using any number of those Busch ones. I'd like to load mine, but can't decide how. Looks to be 3 cars/vans per flat, so I'd need 60, which will cost almost as much as the wagons!

With much of the cars concealed in the covered wagons I could see the case for a simplified resin casting with a bit of paint on rather than £15 worth of Oxford’s Jaguars/Discoveries. For the open wagons, we may need to bite the expensive bullet.

It's a bit trickier for those modelling the Portbury- Mossend flows. There's no available Peugeot/Fiat/Citroen vans or Honda cars in 1:148.

At least if someone does a 3D print of suitable types they'll be nice and lightweight

You’d best get two rakes - one loaded, one empty

:D

I will be doing just the empty ones. As it is, I am having a clear out of locos and coaches tomorrow as the space in the stock boxes has been used by the extra Arbel sets.

Wouldn't be a cheap do, but the Honda Jazz is available as part of this set (including the Nissan Micra).
