Thank you for taking the time to think about my wee project. You’re correct assuming that section B is to replace the corridor side door and two small windows. I understand your thinking in compartment sizes but if you think in bits of plastic I think it should work. By cutting along the inside edge of the toilet window window frame and the inside edge of the stretcher window frame, and the outer edges of the two small windows it should be an OK fit.

Ah I think I have it then - section A will have two 4ft windows, B&C 1 each? Thanks for explaining....

Sorry to hi-jack this thread. I’m in the planning stage of my first Triang Mk1 Cut ‘n’ Shut improvement, hopefully at the end have a diagram AB11 BFK with c/w bogies. A couple of questions, does anybody know what type of roof ventilators were fitted to the final Lot number 14023-14027 and does my picture below look like a workable plan of what goes where from a BSK and a CK.

Hi

Be careful cutting and shutting Tri-ang Mk1s can become addictive.

Here are some of my hauled cut and shuts.

Hi Clive,

Counting windows I estimate 11.5p in the swear box from you there.

Hi Gibbo

I better not show the other sides then.

It is 10p in the swear box if the railway that went past Royal Oak station into bandit country gets a mention.

Anyone improved those Hachette Mk1s we all bought loads of a few years ago? I tried to improve the underframe by removing some of the sold plastic, but then lost the will.....

If I recall correctly - twenty of them.

Hi Neil,

I cant say as I have no experience with either Kitmaster or Coopercraft Mk1's, all I can say is that if you scale the bogie centres to 46' 6" which equates to 186mm you are on the right track.

Gibbo.

Dug my Coopercraft MK1 out of the loft this evening, bogie centres are spot on 186mm. Must find the windows-I saw them in a pile a while ago.

Very nice John;  Bachmann eat your heart out. I presume you put in a whole new underframe.

Not sure that I did - it's been a while; six and a half years ago!

It may - or may not - have involved new underframe trusses; Southern Pride, perhaps?

I can recognise the acutely pointed V-hangers as being original Hachette, though.

John Isherwood.

Hammersmith & City and Circle methinks.

Exactly Peter, the Hammersmith and City line which was operated by jointly owned electric multiple units of the Metropolitan Railway and the GWR.

That is another 10p in the box.

On reflection - Replica, I believe.

Though not now listed, they offered the trussing as a separate item at a very reasonable price.

It might be worth an enquiry if you could use some.

John Isherwood.

A further couple of  questions, how well does Replica glazing fit Triang Mk1 BSK and CK coaches? How does Replica glazing compare with SE Finecast glazing in Triang Mk1s?

Not sure about Tri-ang, but I bought Replica glazing for my Hachette coaches but didn't use it - six years later, I can only assume that it didn't fit.

Mine were from Charlie at DC kits.

I don't know either, but you'd need to remove the horizontal and vertical sections inside the Triang window and then paint those parts on the Replica glazing, which might get a bit tedious.

Firstly Replica glazing is anout 100x better than vac form but the window arpertures are slightly too deep on BSK CK.

So I put a bit of plastic card on the bottom edge of the frame and file a few days later to fit.

Done 2 TSO, BSK, BFK, BG so far.

RMB was OK
