Hello every body,

Does anyone know where I can obtain some carriage door vents/louvres ?.I used to get them from 247 Developments but they stopped doing them years ago. I've also tried Southern Group (Phoenix) but no response to my e-mail so far. Also tried making some from plasticard but with little success. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

For which company's coaches are the vents needed?  I could make prints available for sale quite easily if I had the dimensions. If they are LCDR coaches, then I probably have enough information.

For plain vents without louvres on SECR stock, I generally make them from Evergreen plastic-strip. I find this easier than soldering on the metal ones.

Guy, they would be a boon for those GER 4-wheelers and the planned 6-wheelers.  The door vents are quite pronounced and rounded, almost bulbous, and a 3D print might make for a better representation than brass.

Note, though, the subtle but evident difference between the vents on the 4-wheelers (1870s vintage, with square raised waist beading) and the 6-wheelers (1880s and with conventional recessed waist panels).

I'm building an 1871 Caledonian 6 wheel carriage using the silhouette cutter and drew some on inkscape cutting them out on 20 thou plasticard.

Sorry about the rough and ready look but it's still a work in progress but although not obvious they have the groves scribbed into them by the silhouette
