Yes, a fantastic piece of miniature engineering, Nick.

Copper pipe work doesn't stay that colour for very long in service and the sort of rainbow colour effect which develops on the injector delivery pipes to the top clacks will be an interesting challenge.

Dave.

All the copper pipework is detachable for painting, it'd be impossible to mask up.  The copper and brass stuff probably won't be lacquered so will just gently patinate I suppose.

Yup Barclay got loads of parts left if anyone wants them.

Enough bits left over to make another one???

Looking absolutely stunning Nick, you must be feeling very pleased with the outcome.  I'm understanding now why I've only ever seen one model finished and running.

Now to take it all apart again...

Cheers, Dave.

Hi Nick,

Each day throughout this build, I've been on tenterhooks to see if there was another update. It is simply magnificent! I love the Garretts, but for now at least, a kit that needs so much scratch building is a bit beyond me......one day.

Just wondering if you had any drawings that you worked from, and if you did, where I might obtain a copy from? I do have a penchant for a good scale drawing or engineering diagram, and one day it might get used for a model!

...just a gratuitous shot of the loco to keep the pot boiling.  I'll be stripping it for paint as soon as I can get some OO track to test it, tomorrow hopefully.

The pictures also demonstrate my problems with depth of field!

...remember this?  Time to reassemble.  It's mainly removing paint from places it shouldn't be and fixing all the unpainted detail on.  The chassis were quite tricky to reassemble though.

Here I've added the steam pipes to the cylinder drain cocks.

And some lubricator pipes.

And then reattached most of the pipework to the boiler and cab.

The gauges need fitting up and a few more lube pipes on the front and hind unit then we're done.  Just the mystery of Soundtraxx DCC decoder to unravel then.........

What an absolutely fabulous piece of work, Nick. It almost makes me want to chuck it all in and take up crochet :laugh_mini:

It's finished, well apart from fitting up the decoder, and the addition of some coal.   Ring ring, ring ring,  ''Hello is that Yorkshire Dave?  Can I just ask.........''

Those gauge faces look a bit tatty when blown up, must sort that out.  Amazing paint job by Warren Haywood folks......

Hi all. Just been to Slater's to buy some wheels for my next project. They've had a major disaster, a water main has burst in their building causing much damage. David White was kind enough to dig me out what I needed (it's a bit water damaged, but still usable!) Most of their stock has been ruined, as well as their computer systems, including broadband, and their telephone systems have only just been restored. Their office, and records have also been trashed. I think a bit of patience is required from us all for a month or two until they get back on their feet.

Here's the finished loco, I'm afraid I couldn't get any decent pics of it and all I could manage are there phone snaps.
