truffy
The station platform figures are a strange collection. I could use the two women for the '30s, and the two men with hats could make it at a pinch. But the man with his hands in pockets and the photographer seem somewhat incongruous in terms of era. ahardy
Interestingly I asked a friend who is a Fashion Historian and costume expert for the film/TV industry to select a suitable pack and these were the choices. The camera is a 1958 produced item so it is quite late for the 50's. However she pointed out that although fashion is always moving you will always find people with the latest and some with older fashions on a street. A group of friends are likely to share a fashion style (social sciences and all that) but a random group of people will always have some variety. There will be other packs to follow and I do plan some that are more appropriate for the 30's and into the 40's. 2

But, from my own (purely selfish) perspective, you're unlikely to find a mix that includes fashions-yet-to-be. So the ladies from "the '30s" couldn't be set in the '30s with two men dressed for the '60s. 16 minutes ago, ahardy said: There will be other packs to follow and I do plan some that are more appropriate for the 30's and into the 40's. SDJR7F88
Recreating the Fry's Sentinel in 00 Gauge In this video we construct the 100hp Sentinel from Hardy's Hobbies. This new 3D Printed Body Kit from Hardy's Hobbies fits directly to a Hornby Ruston Chassis, with no modification necessary. The model is based on the same design of Sentinel locomotive that was used at the Fry's Somerdale Chocolate Factory in Keynsham, which was recently restored to full working order on the Avon Valley Railway, near Bristol in 2019. Turned out in Fry's Royal Blue with Gold Leaf insignia, the locomotive makes the perfect subject for this project, as I show you how to create this wonderful little engine in miniature. Hope you enjoy! 6
PenrithBeacon
Looking at the Hardys Hobbies website https://hardyshobbies.co.uk/shop/locomotive-body-kits/100hp-sentinel-pre-war-version/ no mention is made of the quality of the surface finish. May I ask if it's grainy or smooth? Cheers

May I ask if it's grainy or smooth? Cheers It's smooth. Occasionally you might get some slight diagonal lines, but these usually disappear under a layer of paint. Here's mine, which has had no surface prep, just primer and paint straight onto the resin. (Note that mine is a pre-production test, so the print quality is not as good as the Hardy's ones). RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted May 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 2, 2020 (edited) Wow I just discovered you guys... what a surprise I thought this was going to be a kit of bits, not a nearly complete body. Really impressed.. my plan is to recreate 67 and 70 from the Manchester Ship canal, Hudswell Clarke Long Tanks so will be filling the footplate handrail holes, rubbing down the tank rivets and making my electrotren chassis inside cylinder. (not my image) I never thought I’d see these done. The 1800 class I’ve no idea yet, I’m just going to build it and see what becomes. if I could add a request, could you do an MSC short tank, so I can recreate the early days of the ELR and Last days of the MSC.. ? basically.. shorten the tanks of the long tank version, raise the height to the boiler top and stretch the bunker / cab roof 2mm, plus sand boxes (as per 1800, oil box, spring and pipe)... please consider.. 31 and 32 are very widely travelled in preservation ;-) . meanwhile, these 3 new arrivals will keep me busy to join my lamented ARC models RSH while was produced all too briefly. Q great kit guys ! Edited May 2, 2020 by adb968008

Another vote for MSC 'Short' tanks here! Wheelbase of the Jouef/Electrotren chassis is a bit too long (45mm against the 41mm it should be), but that's close enough for me. We had a look at doing this while I was making the CAD models for these kits - the main issue is the motor that Hornby/Electrotren use is very wide, so it would stick out the sides of the boiler. It might be possible to re-motor the chassis with a smaller motor, but that takes the kit complexity up a notch. The inside cylinder mod isn't too hard though. However, I'll leave it to @ahardy to decide what he wants to put in his range!
Markmiller2008
I'm Interesting in building one of these locos however the Electrotren locos don't seem to be available anywhere. Anyone know anywhere that has one in stock? Mark
ahardy
Hi Mark, Although not helpful now I believe Hornby are doing a new release of the locos later this year - at least they are showing on the website. Take care, Andy 1

RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted May 14, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 14, 2020 (edited) The Electrotren 0-6-0’s do seem to have gone a bit more expensive, £60+ recently, as they have also gone a bit more scarce of late. i’m looking at an alternative.. Hornbys Peckett B2 just wants to fit in..its narrower, the wheels & wheelbase are very close. The difference is the rear frames under the bunker and screw hole, remove these and the chassis will go in. if you guys do the Hudswell Clarke short tank, this could be a good solution, and gives the bottom of the boiler barrel in the tooling too, indeed looking at the frame measurements and cuts, it looks like you already maybe designed this B2 chassis to fit ? The Electrotren/Jouef 0-6-0 is due another batch some time this year, the previous batch has probably sold out. That is a good call on the B2 chassis. I bought one when they came out because I liked it, but an MSC Hudswell Clarke short tank would fit in my plans much better.
