It looks a really good little show, of the sort that we should all be supporting. Plus the chance to see some really high quality modelling with Brettell Road appearing, that's the draw for me. I could only manage a 'flying visit' this time around (jobs to do, SWMBO to please; you know how it is!!) but thoroughly enjoyed the show. Highlights for me:- Bourton Yard by Paul Challenor; US modern outline HO scale. Some superb weathering of stock and buildings alike. Nice to hear that my O Scale "Portway Center" was an inspiration to Paul when it was exhibited here a few years ago. Brettel Road by Jim Smith-Wright; UK 1960s 4mm/P4 scale. A sure-fire "Show stopper" of a layout, with unusual 'night time' presentation. Having done 12 years on nightshift in all weathers myself, I appreciated some of the modelling that gave that damp, cold evening feel to the layout!! Corscale-on-Severn by Ned Williams; UK coarse/3-rail O Gauge tinplate. Not my usual cup of tea, except for certain layouts on RMweb, and at Exhibitions!! As unrealistic as that awful 3rd rail is, and as shiny as those tinplate trains are, they generate atmosphere by the bucket-load - as they clatter round the layout, they sure as heck sound like a real train!! Great fun!! Worth also mentioning Ned is a local historian and will be presenting a talk - the second of such - about the Black Country railways and their history, at the Reddal Hill Community Centre (where the Show was today!!) on Fri 16th November, 7 -- 10pm. Admission £1. The first talk Ned gave was so enjoyable CHMRC persuaded him back for a second one!! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Crantock Posted October 13, 2018 Share Posted October 13, 2018 Popped in. It’s a good show that has grown but is still a local show with some stars. For me Brettell Rd was a delight. Will spend time on the website. It’s one of those where you have to look carefully for the extra details. Loved the rain soundtrack. Campbell’s quarry was also good. Again a case of taking the time to realise you are looking at 2 working diggers that work in different ways to to modern hydraulics. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Great venue and catering, excellent support for car parking and a cracking mix of layouts. I also have to make a special mention of thanks to Jim S-W and Simon for the behind-the-scenes peek they generously afforded me on Brettell Road.
