Popular Post Melangoose
Ballasting has now commenced on the Down Running Line (nearest track). Happy to report that once it’s glued the ballast turn a little darker (compare with the furthest track). Would have got there a lot quicker if I hadn’t had to build a 77 slab patio for our Summerhouse, keep saying to my dearest that there is room for a Garden Railway around it, but I get that look of disapproval. Lol…. 16 3

Melangoose
Came home from work tonight and decided with everyone else asleep to do a bit more ballasting. Some modellers need to be in the mood for certain tasks, I just need more time in the day. But I suppose there is no rush. Anyway I am happy with 90 minutes of progress. Melangoose
Had a trip to see Pete Waterman’s model railway at Chester Cathedral. With Steve Adcock (RussellBridge2017 of this Parrish) and Mike Walker the Cheltenham Model Railway Exhibition Manager. A great day out was had by all (Chester is a lovely City). Saw some interesting trains too at Crewe.
Melangoose
Although the highlight of the day was Steve gave me a box, and inside it was a Scratchbuilt IHA Covered Steel Wagon (OMG) which will take pride of place on my Steel train. 13
Melangoose
Stone chipings on all lines now, a couple of places need tidying up. Then a track rubber over it and see if it all still works.

Melangoose
Empty bogie Clay Hoppers head to Cornwall, while the afternoon HST from Hereford heads towards Paddington. First trains over the ballasted scenic section of the layout. Edited August 24, 2021 by Melangoose 12 1

The Colas 70 (Gloucester New Yard to Cadoxton Quay) now has x17 metalair PCA’s to run with (the x5 new ones with some dodgy weathering are at the back).

The ballasting looks fantastic. This is one thing that makes such a difference to layouts and its authenticity (along with cant/superelevation on curves).
